Book Review: This is my son's favorite book
Summary: 4 Stars
My 20 month old son is enamored with this book. He has numerous books to choose from on his shelf, but he always seems to come back to this one. In trying to make a more balanced review, I've sifted through some of the more negative reviews to try to look at this from a different perspective. Perhaps some of the most short-sighted criticisms of this book are that it "doesn't rhyme," that it has "too many adjectives," and that it's "hard to read." Seriously?! A 2-3 minute long book for children is difficult to read? One reviewer even when so far as to say that they SKIP some of the words when reading this book to their child. Talk about lazy on the part of the parent! Anyway... As has been noted by a few of the naysayers, the book does promote an egocentric view of the world for the child, and it also promotes an artificially holistic view of the universe. Is this detrimental to the social development of my toddler? Apparently one particularly pedantic reviewer seems to give this impression. Frankly, I don't care about such things; this isn't meant to be a treatise for some graduate level college course. In the end, what matters most is the happiness that my son receives from studying the primal artwork of the book, while listing to a story that confirms his place in the center of MY universe.
