This book is tenderly written and beautifully illustrated. I have purchased many of them as gifts for close friends, children and grandchildren. They will be given as a special birthday gift which will include a hand-written note on the front page telling them why they have been special in my life. I think the author may have intended it for children, but adults will be deeply touched that they have made a difference in someone's life. It will be a treasure to the receiver throughout the years, and perhaps generations. Hats off to Nancy Tillman for this wonderful gift!Book Review: Such a sweet story for a new grandchild

I saw this book in Maine and thought i'd wait to get home and order it on Amazon as it was cheaper. I loved the story and how it was put together as my daughter had a beautiful baby girl three months ago and it is her first and last baby and the story just brought me to tears. She has already read it to her a couple times and I know she feels the same way. A very cozy , loving and sweet story for a new baby. I almost bought one for myself. I hope it inspires other Grandparents like it did me.Book Review: Wonderful book, wonderful message

I bought this book for a friend's baby, and just read it (carefully) before wrapping it up. This is a great book! It has a wonderful message for young children - that they are special and loved.
I loved the flow of the book, as well as the "activities" (count 1-2-3 and I'll tickle your toes) that went along with some of the pages. The illustrations are gorgeous, as well.
I recommend this book for new babies and older children, too!

My husband and I gave this book to our great-niece for her 1st birthday. It quickly became her favorite bedtime story. She likes to dance with the bears when she goes to get the book for her parents to read.
We had read the book before purchasing it. The story perfectly fit the celebration of her birth.

Book Review: Expected much better for something with so many positive reviews

Reading this to my child made me feel like I was trying to convince him he wasn't really a loser before he'd even spoken his first word or taken his first step. I like the idea of promoting the idea to children that they are unique and loved, but I'm not comfortable trying to convince them that they are special because polar bears dance for them. It seems like we parents should be doing that ourselves. In a word, I found this book "creepy."
