Book Review: Favorite potty learning book
Summary: 5 Stars
First, I see many reviewers don't like the author's choice of words for the boy's anatomy - but the author says right in the introduction to substitute different words in to suit your families choices. Which seems obvious - not everyone uses the same words after all.
I got many many similar potty books from the library and this book was the favorite one for my toddler boy, he likes to have it read to him. He seems really interested in the anatomy explanations so I appreciated those. The illustration style is really cute and colorful and simple. The mom in the book seems really relaxed about her son's progress and accidents, which is a good message. There are a few times where there are funny situations in the book, or word repetitions, that make my son laugh. Many other potty training books have unprofessional looking illustrations and are quite boring for kids to read.
There are some old fashioned touches, like cloth prefold diapers and an old-style "pot" with a handle. I actually liked that the diapers in the book were cloth, but would have preferred to see a more modern looking potty illustrated. My son didn't seem to really notice it though, so I guess it doesn't matter.
