Book Review: Good Potty Train Reinforcement

I bought this book and "The Potty Book for Girls" for my daughter. I started reading them to her before I was getting ready to potty train. I think it got her comfortable with the idea because once I tried to potty train, she picked it up very quickly. I've continued to read to the book to her for reinforcement and I think it helps her. Personally, I think she likes the "The Potty Book" better because she seems to ask for it more. I would have to agree that the author/illustrators choices of illlustrations is bit odd. My daughter is very inquisitive and will continue to ask me over and over where are we going, what happened?, what is that? You can bet that the old fashioned bed pan which the author/illustrator used to depict a potty elicited a good line of questioning. Sure, I told her it was a potty and eventually she satisfied herself with that answer, but truthfully, it's a bit bizarre that the author/illustrator would choose to depict a potty with something that really looks nothing like a potty which most toddlers are being taught to sit on these days. It's just funny because it asks if it's a vase for flowers or milk bowl for the cat, and quite frankly, it looks more like a vase or milk bowl than potty. As far the other reviewers that say "no big deal," it's not that my daughter was incapable of accepting that it was a potty. I just question why the author/illustrator would illustrate a potty with a chamber when I seriously doubt that anyone used a chamberpot for a potty these days. I think it's a good book with a cute title, but the whole "I, Prudence's mother" and the two pages devoted to bringing a clean diaper, to change the dirty diaper, to take away the dirty diaper, is a little drawn out for me, particuarly because this is a book about potty training not the process to change dirty diapers. Like I said, it's a potty book, and it does the job.
