Book Review: A Very Entertaining Read

I have loved Kimberla Lawson Roby's books ever since I first read Behind Closed Doors and I pick up her books solely because her name is on the cover. I am glad I picked this book up. It is as good as I had hoped. It has major surprise in the first chapter> It is humorous at times and sad at times.
In the first chapter, we learn that Kennedi has some happy news for her husband but then we learn that her world is about to be changed forever. We do not even know what the news is until the end of the chapter- and I do not want to spoil anyone's reading enjoyment of this book and sheer delight with that scene by spilling the beans. When I read it, I was shocked and thrilled at the same time.
For the most part, this book had very believable characters in it. I was really comparing their reactions to what I and people I know would do in the same circumstances. I recognized lots of people I know and I laughed because some of the scene made me picture people from my own life.
Reading this book made me laugh out loud several times. It was not overly deep and meaningful but was good entertainment and made me think a little about what I would do if i were in Kennedi's situation- exactly what I wanted from a book.
I gave this book only four stars because the conflict in the book was resolved a little too quickly at the end and seemed a little rushed. I would have liked it better if the resolution to Kennedi's problem had been played out a little more throughout the book with a little more input from Kennedi. Also, one character's whole personality seemed to change very quickly from what may have been a good person to a true villain and this was not believable based on how Kennedi felt about them at the beginning of the book. However, I guess one lesson learned in the bookis that under the right circumstances, anyone can show their true colors. Third, the resolutions to Kennedi's love life was a little rushed. Last, Kennedi's best friend stuck with her through good and bad and I would have liked to know more about her.
All in all, as I have said before, this was an enjoyable read and I look forward to Ms. Roby's next book.
Summary of One in a Million
