Book Review: Exactly what I expected
Summary: 4 Stars
My BF got this to give to his grandfather, who loves politics but has never seen or heard of The Onion. We took a look through it and it was just as good as the issue that comes out every Thursday. I don't know if he will end up giving it to his grandfather, however, since there are frequent inappropriate pictures (child porn, anyone?). But this would make a great coffee table book in any young household, and you can be sure that it will engender quite a conversation.Book Review: Brilliant, Hilarious, and Dark

Every single time I open Our Dumb World, I find myself laughing out loud and being ashamed of it. This book is FULL of hilarious commentary on almost every nation in the world. The humor is direct and piercing, and sometimes so incredibly dark that it's painful. I wouldn't recommend this book for anyone who is sensitive, but if you can let loose and appreciate it for the clever satire it is, you won't be disappointed.Book Review: Try "Our Dumb Century" instead

I usually laughed every couple of pages while reading "Our Dumb World"--but with 25 or so jokes per page, that's not a great batting average. How many funny jokes are there to make about the awful lives of Africans? The repetitive nature of the gags quickly becomes monotonous.
I would recommend the Onion's "Our Dumb Century" instead. Much funnier, and a much wider range of satiric targets.

This is THE funniest book I've ever read! Perfect coffee table book - everyone who has picked it up can't put it down - until they are buckeled over laughing that is. Certain family members (who shall remain nameless), 'borrowed' mine so I bought a bunch more to keep and give as gifts to people with the sense of humor to get it.
