Book Review: The Best, if you've never done any painting before

The book really goes into details on how to get quality of a painting surface. It tells how to prepare the surface, different types of walls, different types of paints, tips from professional painters and even some decorative painting techniques. If a person has never done any painting on his/her own, this is the book you definitely need. Even if you've painted before and you are not satisfied or you did a sloppy job, this book will tell you about your mistakes.
This book will really teach you how to get best quality of a paint job that you can match it up with a paint job done by a professional painter. I will highly recommend this book if you are thinking of starting a painting business or even doing a home project on your own. But for a business along with this book you'll need "Painting Contractor's Handbook".
Book Review: Good detail, well organized and illustrated

This is a great book with good info and good illustrations on the actual techniques of painting the right way. It is organized well and has the right amount of detail for a novice. I have already made a lot of mistakes that might have been avoided if I had looked at this first! If you have never painted (or not in a long time) an interior room, I strongly recommend this. Painting is really easy to 'do' but it is not easy to 'do well' which is deceptive. DOing it right will save time and money so learning alittle before you start is worth it! The illustrations are drawings and I would prefer actual photos, but they are detailed enough that it is fine.Book Review: This is THE book for interior painting techniques

Home Improvement books tend to be either too verbose or deal with multiple subjects that are just too vague and off the subject. This is one of the exceptions. All common interior painting techniques are discussed, along with great pictures. The book doesn't stray from the subject at hand by showing you the author's home remodeling project. In addition, there is a discussion of color and what it does to a space with a great sequence of photographs of the same room in different shades.
Having purchased many books on home improvement, this one gets top honors.

As person with no painting experience I appreciate the explanations and picutres. Step by step instructions take you through the processes and tells you why to do it one way rather than another. I recommend it for first timeer or seasoned do-it-yourselfers! Great reference.Book Review: Excellent "How To" for first timers

This book will tell the first time painter everything you need to know from what supplies you'll need to how to avoid drips. It doesn't go any further, such as to educate on decorative painting, but has everything you need to learn how to paint a room.
