Book Review: Informative information in handling ghosts, and negative entities

Ghosts can be a fun campfire conversation. Stories of local legends, experiences friends or family had of nightly visitations are just a few things that come to mind in the world of the paranormal. Some may use a Ouija Board to enhance these experiences or even dabble in a bit of fortune telling.
Unfortunately, ghosts, spirits and demonic entities are serious topics when it comes to the profession of demonology or serious paranormal investigations. Not only does Keith Johnson (formerly of TAPS, now heads NEAR RI with his wife Sandra and twin brother Kevin) provide his own experiences but also extremely much needed insight and rules when it comes to dealing with and assisting many families plagued by the paranormal.
This information is much needed, as there are several investigation type shows that have sprung up on television after TAPS was first debuted. One tactic that is highly skeptical to those who are professional investigators is the use of provoking an entity immediately upon entering the designated haunted location. Keith describes not only does he not agree with this practice, but it is extremely dangerous.
Keith and his brother Keith conduct a ghost tour at Slater Mill located in Pawtucket, RI. While on the tour Keith said directly before he was about to conduct an EVP session ( electromagnetic voice phonomena) said that "ghosts, like people can be very deceptive" meaning that just because the spirit may claim to be that of a little boy, does not mean that what is saying should be taken as truth. Keith explains that this tactic of provoking is used improperly and often may cause an investigator to bring home his own negative energy that can reek havoc in their home which could mean that a complete blessing would inherently have to be conducted.
Also, like people Keith explains that spirits too need to be dealt with on a respectful level. He recommends that upon entry and departure of the supposed haunted location a blessing of protection should be conducted in preventing the negative energies to follow innocent people to their dwellings.
In my opinion, these statements and opinions of the author desperately needed to be heard in the investigation communities. The book is extremely well written and knowledgeable. It really makes one think if they really would like to be part of actual investigations. I have always believed in ghosts and have had my own experiences, but now I am not quite sure I would like to investigate them as a serious endeavor. Keith's practices on the topic of demons and negative energies have nothing to do with frivolous provocations done by inexperienced investigation teams. This is serious business.
Honestly, I read this book in one day, I could not put it down. I am really looking forward to his next book and I am hoping that he will explore collaborating with his twin Kevin, as I am sure he has some information that he needs to bring to the table. I would also be very interested on a book by Keith's wife Sandra, as her interviewing skills on Ghosts R Near, are very cunning.
I would recommend this book to beginners who are seriously considering "ghost hunting" because it may make one think twice. Keith explains that you need a tremendous amount of emotional stability, and being able to distinguish the many realities that may be presented to a ghost hunter that are often quite scary and dangerous.
Get ready for things that go bump in the night because "Paranormal Realites" will certainly make your the hairs on your arms and neck stand straight up!
