Book Review: God bless Paula Deen! What a woman!!

I admit, I am a HUGE Paula Deen fan. My mother-in-law bought an autographed copy of this book for me while we were visiting her restaurant in Savannah (where we got to meet her sweet son, Bobby! Such a treat! And you'll never eat a better piece of fried chicken ANYwhere!). I knew something of her rags-to-riches story before, but I couldn't believe how candid she was in her autobiography. She isn't afraid to admit that she has made some big mistakes in life. It just made me adore her even more! I especially loved how the editor/publishers used her accent/twang in the text. They kept her authenticity and I just felt like she was talkin' right ta lil' ol' ME!

Book Review: Not a southerner

Yikes! This was given to me on audio, and being one who always finishes a book once started, I am forcing myself to listen. Perhaps I should have read the printed version, but this woman is getting on my nerves big time. Her "poor darlin' sons who needed her so For heaven's sake - they were in their 20's! Late 20's!!!!! Many of us hve been in a bad marriage, battled hardship, and thrived. I'm glad she was courageous enough to do so also. However, it isn't a life story I would ever recommend. Oh - and to keep seeing the married man while in "love" with her soon to be second husband ?!?!? Is this normal?!?!?!?!? I can't wait for the final CD so I can stop suppressing screams of frustration while listening.
Book Review: Y'all Be Sure and Buy This Book - It's Haunting

I received this book in the mail only yesterday, but have been changed forever by Paula's honesty. I feel like she was talking about me a few times, because it hit SO close to home! It brought me to tears many times. I have lost both my parents in the past four years and having three daughters I sure could use them here to help me! I miss my mama and daddy something awful! I'll be turning 40 in July, too. I'm heading out to Savannah in June and I pray that I get to meet this fantastic lady. I've, unbeknownst to her, adopted her as my new mama. Paula, haven't you always wanted another child? Maybe a girl this time? ! Be sure to buy this book for your own mom, aunt, sister, grandma... any woman in your life who makes your heart smile.Book Review: I crried for Paula and with Paula and I also laughed right out loud

I've been a fan of Paula's for a long time, primarily because I like her style and enjoy watching her put on a show, but now I am a serious admirer of her's as well. The book is as honest as it gets, sometimes too much so, as she has had some pretty tough times, but the frankness just made me love her even more.
You are right, Paula, as you say in your book, it could have been me, and if you could succeed in spite of all your problems and set backs, so can I. Thank you.
Also, Paula is terribly funny and I think her sense of humor is probably one of the things that pulled her through her tough times. I really enjoyed the book and will probably read it again, when I need an encouraging word from a friend.

Paula Deen needs to be commended for her ability to inspire other women to achieve greatness in life and in the kitchen! She's a down-to-earth, Southern Belle who has worked hard for the success she deserves...quite an inspiration. I've tried many of her recipes and they are relatively easy to make and equally delicious to eat. Thanks, Paula, for telling it like it is and for sharing your cooking super-talents.
