Book Reviews of Photoshop Elements 6: The Missing Manual

Book Review: An Excellent Reference
Summary: 5 Stars

I purchased this book on Photoshop Elements 6 in order to answer questions from my students. I have found the information thorough and well written. Barbara Brundage has made a valuable contribution in providing a comprehensive reference book for those who use Photoshop Elements. Each tool and dialog box is explained so that a novice can get started with the program. Techniques such as image sharpening, retouching and adding special effects will help the new user produce outstanding images. For me the important thing was to be able to answer a student's questions accurately and this book has exceeded my expectations. Its index helps me find the information I need quickly. The explanations are easy to understand, but those who prefer the step by step method of learning can skip through the details and follow the steps.

Book Review: Well worth the cost
Summary: 5 Stars

This book is well worth the price. In fact, the brief mention of getting the camera RAW converter plug-in from Adobe and instructions on how to use it was worth the price of the book.

Not only that, but the author provides her email address in the front of the book, and will actually answer any questions you have concerning anything you don't understand. I find this fact amazing. I cannot imagine where she gets the time to do this.

Since I have several years experience with an ancient Photoshop 6, this may have helped me when referring to the book, but it also gives me preconceived notions of how to do things that are not necessarily correct in relation to Elements 6, so I find the book very useful.

Book Review: PhotoShop Elemnets 6 - The Missing Manual
Summary: 2 Stars

Photo Elements 6, is needed because adobe photoshop elements 6 give very little understandible help in their help. The book however is also very hard to following. The book does NOT take a single item and walk throught all the steps to finish it. IE moving a head shot to another body, and what tools to use for the project. Overly poorly written for average customer (my opinion) so two stars. also NO use full Help listed in book. that does not wander around, and therefore hard to follow. I also later purchased from amazon Teach your self visually abodePhotoshop elements 6. Pictures are nice etc but again no project that beginners can follow from start to finish wih out jumping all over the book. again two stars from me

Book Review: Photoshop Elemnts 6 - The Missing Manual
Summary: 4 Stars

I purchased the book after reading recommendations on Amazon.com. I am so pleased with my purchase. This is the best reference book that I have found on Elements 6. I can highly recommned the book to anyone wanting to learn more about photoshop elements 6. It is very easy to follow and has assisted me in demistify a difficult piece of software. I find that I am using the power of my Photoshop Elements 6 software much more productively since having access to the missing manual. With this reference book you won't need any other reference.

I have found a new enthusiasm for projects making use of the photoshop software and am, with the help of the Missing Manual, producing exciting results.

Book Review: This is not "The Missing Manual" for a beginner.
Summary: 1 Stars

I have read the first six chapters of this book and have found it very difficult to follow. The pictures are unreadable and of little use. This book is not for beginners. It might serve as a reference for a Photoshop Elements expert user but definitely not for a new user.

It's been about a week since I wrote the above paragraph. Since that time I received a copy of "Photoshop Elements for Dummies" and have gone through it from cover to cover. The "Dummies" book gave me the basics I needed and now "The missing Manual" is working. I will use this for a reference. It seems to go deeper into any given subject.
I cannot seem to change my original rating from one star to three.
