Book Reviews of Photoshop Elements 6: The Missing ManualBook Review: If you are a beginner, forget this book Summary: 1 Stars
I tried to read this and just sat and cried. It definitely is not for a beginner. Neither is the software program. Wish I had not bought either one. Why can't someone do a simple book for beginners that starts at the beginning. I don't want to go into business, All I want to do is put names on photos, and learn to resize them. Why do computer people have to make everything so terribly hard to do - are they trying to outdo one another or something?
Book Review: Confusing and poorly written Summary: 2 Stars
I have recently received this book and am not impressed. I purchased it to be a quick reference for the Photoshop program, but so far have found it to be confusing and poorly written. The explanations are not easily understood and in some cases, even when followed step-by-step, do not achieve the results promised. I believe that a lot more screen shots would have helped explain the various functions. I could not recommend this book to anyone.
Book Review: money well spent Summary: 4 Stars
It's nice to have this book to grab, now that I'm starting at the very beginning with PE. I think it could be twice as long and still not do the software justice. I was trying to figure out how to take an existing photos directory that has many subdirectories and convert it to a PE catalog. This book isn't clear enough on the organization features. But it's a whole lot better than the nothing that comes with the software.
Book Review: Covers the Subject + Summary: 5 Stars
This book is GREAT - I have been using PhotoShop Elements since version II and was always pleased with it. I am now using version VI, and have been happy with the results. After starting to read this book and use the information provided, I have discovered how to REALLY use PhotoShop Elements! This book is easy to use and is well written. I think it could be used to advantage with Elements IV also. Buy it, use it, enjoy the results!!!
Book Review: Don't try to use icc color profiles with Elements 6 Summary: 2 Stars
From reading Dry Creek Photo's writeup on using Printer Profiles with Digital Labs (later revised), I was under the mistaken impression that Photoshop Elements 6 could convert images to RGB printer icc profiles. It can not. Therefore, my purchase of this otherwise laudable software did me no good at all, and I was forced to return it and purchase Photoshop CS3. This later purchase of CS3 is serving me well.
