Book Reviews of Pleasure

Book Review: I'm very pleased with Pleasure
Summary: 4 Stars

I'm not going to write a book report to review this book. There were so many plot twists that I was reading with my mouth wide open. This book is about a woman seeking pleasure and getting it by any means. Nia Simone is the kind of EJD character that you know you're going to see again in another book.
The sensuality of this book can't be measured. It was tastefully done, however. I love how Dickey inserted information about the Islands. It opens your eyes to a lot of different things.
I was a little outdone with the description of trip to Greensboro, though. There is never that little traffic on I-85 North. LOL.
Great job on this book. No one can ever accuse Mr. Dickey of writing the same book twice!

Book Review: Nia is a freak
Summary: 2 Stars

I've been a great fan of Dickey's work for years and am pretty familiar with his writing style. The majority of his books have erotic sexual descriptions as the background, which I'm fine with, I enjoy that about his books. But with Pleasure that seems to be the forefront of the entire book so it's overly sexual for my taste. His main character Nia has that constantly on her mind and her escapades with the twins (Mark & Karl) and Kiki is overly perverted. Nia explores her sexually wild side throughout this book and I feel that she's lost somehow by trying to fulfill a void in her life. I will continue to read Dickey's books but I will be more careful in my future selections.

Book Review: Sigh
Summary: 1 Stars

This is my first foray into erotic fiction (I guess this is what it is called) and I must say I was quite bored. I didn't make it through chapter 3. Everything is so cliché. All the characters looks like they step off the pages of Vogue and GQ magazines, are super smart with extraordinary jobs, and are champs in the bedroom...yawn. Haven't I read this before? Why can't the characters have regular jobs like a supervisor at a call center, construction worker, or pay day loan teller? Do something to make the story interesting besides what we have read a hundred times over. I am a fan of EJD's work, but this reads as if it was thrown together to meet an obligation.

Book Review: no pleasure at all!
Summary: 1 Stars

I'll be brief. Don't waste your money. I don't know what's happened to EDJ but some of his lastest books have been disappointing. But none as dissapointing as "Pleasure". It's the worst he's written thus far. I could only get through 1/4 of the book and then I gave up. It was so boring, even the pleasure was painful! I just couldn't connect with Nia. Thankfully, I was able to return this aweful book and get a full refund! Now that's PLEASURE!

Update: A few months after I wrote this review I revisited "Pleasure". I got the book out to the local library and read it to the bitter end. My rating has not changed. I didn't enjoy this book. Sorry EJD.

Book Review: Big Eric J Fan But Disappointed
Summary: 3 Stars

I am a huge Eric Jerome fan and have been for quite some time. I have read all of his books and own most of them. However, I did not really like Eric's lastest novel. I was disappointed with it. To me, it lacked substance and an interesting plot (if there even was one) and just seemed to drag on and on and on about nothing of importance. The ending was very boring as well and I'm just not used to Eric writing like this.
It could have been so much better if the plot wasn't so weak. I will still remain a big fan and I know that Eric is an amazing writer. Hopefully, his next novel will allow my feelings about him as a writer to remain the same.
