Book Reviews of PleasureBook Review: Pleasantly surprised Summary: 4 Stars
Eric Jerome Dickey surprised the Hell out of me with the book Pleasure. Reading his last 2 books I was ready to turn my back on the man, by chance I picked up the book yesterday the first chapter was slow and I was ready to put it down and chalk it up to a lost of 20 dollars but I continued on like a trooper. And I'm so happy I did the book was great I related to the character Nia Simone and the lust/love she felt for the twins Karl and Mark. I couldn't put the book down I had to know what was going to happen next, and the love scenes were simply amazing it put his other books to shame. I would highly recommend this book EJD is back in full force.
Book Review: Pleasure Summary: 5 Stars
I was given this book as a gift so I did not order it off of Amazon. But the review of this book from my desk is this....it is the BOMB! It starts off in his usual sexual way of some woman pleasuring herself and then goes into the sexual excapades of a business oriented woman in today's society. The book has many turns and curves to keep you reading into the wee hours of the night. It is a must read for anyone who appreciates Eric Jerome Dickey's work. I can't wait for his next book which will be out in the next few weeks....immediately following the O'Bama-bration. Not cele-BRATION.....but...O'Bama-BRATION. Yes we can and we will! YMMV. NEOSOUL06.
Book Review: Overkill Summary: 1 Stars
Well, after SWS and WWE, I vowed to never buy another EJD book again. I could tell from these books that his writing style was changing. He was starting to write longer and more descriptive sex scenes...sex scenes that were not necessary, nor did they enhance the story lines. When I saw Pleasure in Walmart I passed by, but went back b/c I have ALL of EJD's books! If I had known it was erotica I would have left it on the shelf. I wonder if he saw the success of Zane and thought he'd get in on the frenzy. Eric is such a talented writer and lately he has been wasting his talent on this crap! I will not be buying another EJD book! Promise!
Book Review: EJD's writing has changed Summary: 2 Stars
Just like the last book there was too much freakin going on. This was ridiculous. I like reading a good book of fiction not a freaky tale with a lot of psychological talk. But if you're looking for a storyline & plenty of dialogue, it's a wrap for this one because it's not happening. If it wasn't Nia & those twins freaking, or Nia & that girl freakin, or all of them freakin together, it was Nia & all her psychological thoughts that made me end reading the book early because I just couldn't take it anymore. EJD used to be such a good writer, but this was trash. I know longer buy his books. Only rent from the library.
Book Review: "Pleasure" not a pleasure.... Summary: 1 Stars
EJD has drifted so far from the gifted writer that once wrote about characters that left you longing for more like in "Friends and Lovers" and "Milk in my Coffee". I stopped reading when Marvin Gaye's "Sexual Healing" ringtone was mentioned in the book. I consider myself very open-minded, but I had enough of the sexual theme in the book. I stopped before I had to read another, "I moaned". The absent of a plot made it very hard to stay in engaged. The best thing about reading this book: not buying it; I got it from the local library. Now I know why it was available without a wait--it's not worth the wait.
