Book Reviews of Princess Sultana's DaughtersBook Review: "Truthiness?" Summary: 3 Stars
Things like this probably go on in Saudi Arabia, but I doubt that so many life changing emotional events like the ones in this book happen to and around one person, especially in such a compressed time frame. One red flag on truth is the Princess's son taking $1 million (and his sister's passport) from the family safe, and nary a word mentioned hence.
For those interested in this topic, Carmen bin Ladin's "Inside the Kingdom" is a five star book. While she writes with restraint, I believe what she writes is true.
Book Review: Couldn't stop Reading... Summary: 5 Stars
Princess Sultana's Daughters was as good as Princess, the first book in this trilogy. I laughed and I cried and I was terribly sad when I closed the book. I cannot remember ever enjoying a book this much. I could not stop reading and I stayed up so late that I almost missed class the next day. PRINCESS was required reading for my best friend (literature class) and I decided to read it after hearing her talk about the book. I am so glad I did. Believe me when I say, you do not want to miss the PRINCESS TRILOGY.
Book Review: Not as good as the first one. Summary: 3 Stars
I absolutely loved "Princess Sultana's Circle" and read it over and over. So when the second book came out I immediately snatched up a copy. Boy, was I disappointed! The book is total overkill and the princess goes on and on until you actually want someone to shut her up. In the first book, she was a fighter but in the second she comes off as a spoiled whiner. I actually felt sorry for her husband! Do yourself a favor and buy the first, leaving it at that.
Book Review: More horrific tales from Sultana Summary: 5 Stars
After reading the review by "A reader from the USA" dated May 7, 2001 I became so enraged! I thought to myself, how could someone be so ignorant? Yes! These stories are all true! You don't have to have visited Saudi Arabia to know that the discrimination described in the book is true... I am glad that 'Sultana' has had the courage to write her story - She had opened the eyes of many Western men and women. Thank You 'Sultata' for sharing your story.
Book Review: Depressingly Truthful Summary: 5 Stars
I loved the book. It opened my eyes to the way women are treated in Saudi Arabia. And I was disgusted. If this was China the USA would do something, or at least complain, but because we need oil, we stay quiet. I didn't like Sultana however. Big Woo, she wrote a book, but she still stayed married to her sexist husband and allowed her society to perpetuate its' injustices upon her and her daughters. She should have fled to France and never looked back.
