Book Reviews of Quick Simple FoodBook Review: Delicious, delightful, and best of all EASY! Summary: 5 Stars
I must confess I'm a culinary klutz, but this book has given me a LOT more confidence in the kitchen! These recipes are super easy to follow, and the results look elegant and taste delicious. So far my favorites are the farfalle with zucchini and lemon-cream sauce and the ziti with garlic-roasted cauliflower -- but that's only because I haven't tried them all yet! This book is terrific for someone who wants to eat well but doesn't have a lot of time to waste fussing around in the kitchen. I didn't spend more than a half hour on any of these dishes, and it's so satisfying to finally be able to impress family and friends with my cooking! It's also beautifully illustrated, so it'd make great gift book as well.
Book Review: Quick, Smart, Scrumptious, Savvy, Stylish, and Sensible Food Summary: 5 Stars
This book is amazing. It makes it possible for regular people to make not just quick but quick, smart, scrumptious, stylish, sensible food with savoir-faire. She totally debunks all that cook like a chef stuff--and I don't want to cook like a chef. I'm not a chef. I want to make fabulous dinners without spending my entire evening or life on them. All these recipes are easy, but with big deep flavors and no convenince foods. She's simplified everything for us--and I really appreciate that. And she has such good ideas, such a fine palate.I will use this book until I've cooked everything in it--and by then, I hope there will be another book from her. Thank you Susie!
Book Review: True to the title Summary: 5 Stars
The book will make you feel like a gourmet but without all the work. After years of meat and potatoes cooking this book was a real treat that opened up a whole new world for me. If you want an exciting change but just don't have the time or energy to play Julia Child then this is the cookbook for you. It was the answer to my prayers. The dishes really are impressive and belie their simplicity.
Some of the ingrediants are expensive and hard to find but it's worth the money and effort. There's more to cooking than Worschestershire sauce, ketchup and cream of mushroom soup.
Book Review: Streamlined Cooking Summary: 5 Stars
I like for meals to look like I put a lot of effort into them, but I don't have the time or energy to prepare them. This is the first cookbook that I have owned that helped simplify and streamline my cooking. I have been inspired by this book to reorganize my utensils, spices and dry ingredients so that I can prepare delicious, nutritious and simple meals. I love to use fresh herbs and many of these recipes allow me to use all of the varieties in my garden. The photographs are lovely as well. This is a nice addition to my cookbook collection.
Book Review: A beautiful book full of delicious food Summary: 5 Stars
Even though I own a few hundred cookbooks, I find myself in a rut sometimes, where I can't get inspired to cook anything. This book changed that. Thumbing through these beautiful pages makes me want to cook just about everything. Tonight we're having real good turkey burgers; later this week, I'll try the tuna with miso sauce. Thank you, Susie Quick, for providing the inspiration to get me back in the kitchen.
