Book Reviews of Rachael Ray: Just In TimeBook Review: Gift for Mom.... Summary: 4 Stars
Original Review:
I bought this book for my mom because she loves Rachel Ray. She also loves to cook, but often runs out of meal ideas and time-so this book came in handy. However, some of the meals are not 30 minutes, so make sure you pre-read the recipe a day in advance to make sure you have time the next day. Plus, everyone has different tastes depending on where they live, so some of the recommended ingredients were substituted for other ingredients and/or taken out completely. When you cook, you know how to make a good meal-better. So this review is based on my mother's experience and her advice.
Edited Review:
Overall, the book is nice for meal ideas, but a little long winded.
Book Review: Great book for quick, easy and tasty dishes Summary: 4 Stars
I received this book as a Christmas present and I must say, it's quite good. I've tried a few of the recipes (15-minute and 30-minute meals) and they are super-fast and taste delicious. I'm an experienced cook so I am able to prepare these meals in the appropriate time.
I don't understand which ingredients other reviewers are describing as "hard to find". I am able to find all of the ingredients in my local grocery store. Tonight I made the Pasta Puttanesca, a 15-minute meal and it was ready in no time! The whole recipe took no more than 15 minutes from start to finish. I highly recommend this book to Rachael Ray fans and anyone else who may curious about expanding their cooking repertoire.
Book Review: She says she's not a chef. . . Summary: 1 Stars
And this cookbook is hard evidence of that. Just because someone knows where to find expensive ingredients (in your regular ol' grocery store)doesn't mean they know what to do with them. She's out of ideas and is rehashing previous recipes with pricier ingredients, that's all. And as far as healthy?? Please. . .everything is swimming in olive oil, drowned in chicken stock, or buried under an avalanche of cheese. Before you buy this book, remember. . .this is a woman who thinks it's not only OK but NECESSARY to cook bacon in olive oil. A steady diet of her food will have you hoping that the paramedics get you to the cardiac unit "Just In Time."
Book Review: Excellent go to book Summary: 5 Stars
I got this Rachael Ray cookbook and got my niece a copy too - she is in college and I know she wants to eat well and have it come together quickly -
This book has meals that can come together in 15 minutes, 30 minutes, and if you have that luxury - 60 minutes -
The only thing I worry about Rachael's recipes is I don't think inexperienced cooks understand that 15 minutes may not cook chicken all the way, etc. Sandwiches and the like with deli meats yes, but sometimes I wonder if the completed food is semi-cooked.
As long as that caveat is in place, this cookbook will come in handy.
