Book Review: Tasty Nonsense
Summary: 2 Stars

Four stars for some very tasty raw recipes. Zero stars for propagating nonsensical junk science. None of this stuff has any proven published clinical studies in peer reviewed journals to back it up. The darkfield blood mycology & parasite stuff is a total scam and simply runs contrary to biology. You blood is generally sterile, not full of fungus or bacteria. Fungus doesn't convert into other forms of life. Bacteria don't convert to fungus. Just as humans don't convert to whales or daisies. The pleomorphism of Enderlein has been clearly disproven with modern molecular biology methods, it is simply a holdover from days when modern methods weren't available. Good scientist that he was, Enderlein would likely change his theories today, given the realities of modern methods of study. Even Cousins' interpretation of Ayurveda is incompatable with the extensive use of cooked food, dairy and often meat in that paradigm of health. This is *his* Ayurveda, not the real thing.
Tastes good though. Just don't believe the theories.

Book Review: Educational & Delicious
Summary: 5 Stars

What sets this apart from the other raw recipe books is its use of 'phases' for foods. Like, Phase 1 is really low on sweets (fruits & starches), Phase 2 incorporates a few, and Phase 3 does not limit sweets (these are the desserts). This is super handy for diabetics or people watching their glucose intake (for health, weight issues, cleansing purposes, etc).

Oh, and it's educational! It's not just recipes...the first 150 pages are a great introduction (with medical information) about the raw food lifestyle. I've also bookmarked its nut/seed soaking guide, the list of foods & which phase they fit into, and the essential oil nut milks.

And the food? Delicious! The ingredients are easy to find in any market, and most recipes call for a small amount of ingredients (even if it seems like a lot, it's probably just a lot of spices or other staples). I have yet to try a recipe that I don't like. From the dressings to the puddings, salads & entrees, I reeeeally loved everything!

Book Review: Rainbow Green Live-Food Cuisine
Summary: 4 Stars

Like a lot of people, I am gradually coming to the realization that what I put into my body affects the way my mind and body are able to function. Not all food is created equal and counting calories or carbs does very little good if I'm not giving my body the nutrition it needs. Slowly, I am learning that my body, mind, and spirit prefer whole foods to fast food and empty calories.

Rainbow Green Live- Food Cuisine introduces the concept of live-food. This plan is strictly vegan and promotes the usage of fresh raw foods whenever possible. For most people, these recipes will be a radical change from what they eat at present. Nonetheless, they will provide a place to start.

I had a few personal challenges while trying these recipes. A large portion of the foods contained coconut, which I am allergic to, so I had to make some adjustments. Moreover, many of the dishes contained ingredients that were unavailable in my area, so I again had to make substitutions.

Book Review: Excelling athletes on raw food diet
Summary: 5 Stars

In response to people not sure about eating this kind of diet -

I would look at the results Tim Van Orden at running [...] is getting. He is beating world elite skyscraping running and endurance athletes after having only been on an e-x-ceptionally minimally raw food diet for 2 years, having only been running for two years and is a late age in running circles of 38. Brendan Brazier also is interesting.

Also, Victoria Boutenko's theory on how greens (organic - as startling difference in her book Green Smoothie between mostly 1,480mg compared to 1 to 8mg of any standard vitamin or mineral per 100g greens) exceed the USDA requirements on almost all counts, the exception being fibre and how this diet does not cause a-n-y of the myriad human illnesses in chimpanzees, who are used to test blood samples in animal testing for human medicine, hearts and lungs etc. and who share 99.4% the same gene sequence as humans.

Book Review: Is it really raw?
Summary: 5 Stars

I've been eating raw for over a month now, only using this book and still haven't managed to eat all the recipes. I find my-self asking constantly: Is this REALLY a raw food dish? You'd never believe you were eating living cuisine.

Most praise this book for it's simlicity. I personally don't find it exactly simple but then again I have never used any other raw uncook book before. I'm dissapointed to some degree though and sometimes feel chained to my kitchen. At times like that I simple look for a quick recipe and just throw something together and guess what...it still tastes amazing.

I love the first part of the book as well. It's wonderful to see how complete his research is and to be encouraged to make raw cuisine personal to your body, mind and spiritual needs. Most people don't eat raw the right way because they don't know there's a better way. Cousens does and he's not afraid to share it!

Buy this book, change your life.
