Book Reviews of Raise Your Voice 2nd editionBook Review: The best Summary: 5 Stars
Raise Your Voice has been the been the best thing that ever happened to my singing voice. I bought this book being kind of skeptical about how much of an effect it would have on me. The book was very easy to read(I think i've read it over 5 times by now), which helps considering that there is a LOT of information in it. Everything you need to know about the voice is here. So you can learn how to take care of your voice(and yourself), warm up your voice, use your voice, and improve your voice.
One of the best things the book comes with is the forums. It gives you a password to a forum that other book readers can join. There are a lot of people on there, including Jaime, that will help you with anything you need help with vocally. Jaime is also one of the nicest guys you will ever talk to.
So for a review on the actual program, it works. It can either be used as exercises to incorporate into your normal routine, or you can follow the "7 week program" if you want to REALLY improve your voice. If you're considering buying a vocal book, THIS IS THE ONE YOU WANT.
Book Review: Very Comprehensive. A must for your vox library. Summary: 5 Stars
Jaime Vendera's RYV series is one of the best books for training popular voice on the market for the following reasons;
1). It does a good job of addressing issues that matter to the contemporary vocal artist and recognizes a market that is looking for information that you cant find from more traditional voice pedagogues.
2). It covers good voice techniques that will help you to gain new levels with your vocal training and it is full of a lot of added value, such as vocal health, recommended vocal products and select articles/essays from some of the top voice teachers in the world. Its almost a "lexicon" and has qualities found in a good reference publication. Its Jaime's book, but its not all about Jaime... its very generous in how it shares information from other experts in the field.
Jaime is one of the hardest working and passionate voice pedagogues in the business. Owning one of his books is important to anyone's library of vocal books/systems.
Book Review: ABSOLUTE MUST HAVE Summary: 5 Stars
I have read this book at least twice. This is one of the finest books available on Vocal Technique that I have ever read. Jaime doesn't miss a beat. While I was reading it, I tried many of the suggested exercises of which all of them worked. I especially liked that he had some of the A-List instructors make a contribution when it came to their own niche. Not many authors are willing to share the spotlight. This shows humility,sincerity, and respect -- he really is out there to be of service to the student -- really wants the student to succeed. I have been a fan of Jaime's for many years. If you don't have his first edition of this book, I highly recommend that you buy both. This is a system of teaching that will take your voice to higher and higher levels. The coach never gets a coach, but I consider Jaime to be one of mine. I have learned a lot from these books. This is a must have -- the real deal.
Book Review: Loved the book, hated the "natural remedy" influence Summary: 3 Stars
Chapters devoted to natural remedies??? You have got to be kidding me!
Liked the book, liked the guy and the videos. But I cannot say that I liked the descriptions on all kinds of herbs and what it does to your body, etc. etc. etc.
There are many methods to stay healthy and I want a book on singing, not staying healthy.
Great focus on resonance, but I think that the book does a somewhat poor job on how to "shoot into the soft palate". When I would try using his method, the results were nasally and doing it otherwise gave it a throaty feel.
I read this book over a year ago. My favorite book is the CVT by Cathrin Sadolin, but I think I will reread this book if I find time this summer from practice.
Book Review: "The" Vocal Bible Summary: 5 Stars
