Book Review: An excellent satirical look at American puritism.

Allen Sherman uses humor and stone-age characters to bring home a hard truth about American puritism and the ironic juxtaposition of this and the original break for freedom that America was founded on. He doesn't hold any punches, the book begins with a baptism of profanity, if the reader makes it past this immersion, the plunge to follow will be relatively easy. This book is a light-heartedly written look at the black hole in America's consciousness, Sherman sugar-coats the bitter pill of reality facing Americans today, showing us how we have slowly let our freedoms slip away, using amusing stone-age characters who represent the hapless (ignorant) Americans beseiged by moral protocal and the politically saavy neo-government who manipulate this morality to accrue power. This book is currently out of print and I suspect it is that profanity with which the book opens that has made this so. The anti-government sentiment underlying this satire is nothing new, the power with which it is conveyed,however, is. This book is about freedom. It should be back in print.
