I bought this calendar for a friend in my reading group. She loved the calendar and raves about it all the time. I also purchased the hardcover book for myself of this same title which has many pictures of artwork that was painted of women reading books. The artwork spans a few eras and has interesting facts about the artwork, artists, and books.
Summary of Reading Woman 2009 Wall Calendar
Unlike the subject of a traditional portrait, who typically faces us directly and reveals her story as she pleases, the reading woman remains an enigma. This calendar s twelve images by sixteenth- to twentieth-century European artists invite you to imagine the details of the reading woman s experience. Each is accompanied by a quote or literary excerpt on the subject of books and reading.
