Book Reviews of Recipe Keeper

Book Review: THIS IS WHAT YOU WANT
Summary: 5 Stars

My sister had a birthday coming up, and I wanted to get her something she would both love and would be useful. I had looked at dozens of other recipe books on Amazon, trying to find the best.

This is it.

The description doesn't do the book justice! It has everything a chef could want, it has sections for different recipes, temporary plastic pages for people to use white-board markers on. There are conversion charts in the front for ingredient measurements.

But that's not even the best part!

The book uses a three ring binder format that allows any page to be changed out for another, allowing a lot of customizing. All together though, the thing that really sells this is the over all quality. The pages are all thick stock, the three ring-system locks into place nicely and the outside covers feel expensive. Just hold this in your hands, and you can immediately tell that this could be passed down to grandchildren without degrading.

My sister was so happy that I got her such a good recipe keeper, that she made me a pan of cream cheese brownies!

Book Review: Great book and Cute cover!
Summary: 5 Stars

I love the picture on the cover-just cute! I like the quotes on each divider and the pockets and the ever so faint little pictures on the recipe pages. They won't get in the way if you have to write over them. I also like that I can punch holes in the recipes I've printed off the computer to fit in the book as well. I did find that for some of my longer recipes, the area to write is a bit small, even with my somewhat small handwriting. Most were simply continued into the "Notes" section, but a couple were still just a bit too long. I simply taped a piece of lined paper towards the bottom of the page to finish out the few lines left. Just a great book altogether and I'm so happy to add it to my collection. Also, for anyone looking, the refill pages are available at www.welcomebooks.com I just found it and aren't sure if they match the pages that come with the book. It says it's for this book, there's not a detailed picture of the pages, just a line drawing. On the home page I searched for Recipe Keeper and it popped it up. Will probably order some myself.

Book Review: Love it!
Summary: 4 Stars

I cook almost every night using new and old recipes. I have an evolving stock of recipes, some cut from magazines, some printed from the internet, and many on recipe cards. This recipe keeper is nice because it is a fairly large binder (take out the extra pages in the back if you need more room as I did. I store the extra pages until I need them). I put internet and magazine recipes in the photo album stlye pages provided in the binder. I hole punched my recipe cards and inserted them that way. I store new recipes I haven't yet tried in the pockets at the beginning of each section tab. The binder style of this recipe keeper is nice because it makes it very easy to flip through when you are choosing recipes. It is very much like your own personalized cookbook. This is a great product if you like to be organized and if you have or are aquiring a lot of recipes. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is because I wish it had more of the photo album style pages.

Book Review: Organizing recipes
Summary: 3 Stars

I collect recipes and have a file folder where they go until I use them - in no organized way. I wanted someplace to put them that would be easier to access and that would encourage me to sort them by type. I'm not sure that this book is going to do that. I wish that there was a software program available that I could use to work with the pre-printed recipe pages. I will have to create one for myself. I don't have the neatest handwriting. You can order extra pre-printed pages but you can't order extra "magnetic" pages. The overall size should be just a little bit larger. I print out some recipes from online sources and it doesn't work well with 8-1/2 x 11" pages. The pockets are just a little too small and the magnetic pages are significantly too small. I think this will become a place to create my own personal cookbook so I can have a single location for recipes I really like. Unfortunately, I still need an organizer!

Book Review: It's nice.. but
Summary: 3 Stars

It is the perfect size, you can add regular sheets of paper to it and that is what I was looking for. However, the inside coloring its a bit too much for me. The tab folders are super 70's colorful(diamonds in mix colors like aqua and yellow, purple and green), the outside it's more of an orangy red with a light brown rather than the dark brown and red, the recipe pages are a very light orange color so its hard to see where to write(besides there is no lines on the area where you will put the ingredients and directions)

The good things about it is that the folders have pockets, the recipe pages are very hard, and it's a very sturdy book. I think that after I make some changes to it I will like it better. I will probably create my own recipe pages and replace them. I ll probably get rid of the folders too. It's not a bad recipe organizer! I guess it's just too busy for me.
