Book Reviews of Remember Me?

Book Review: In a nutshell: brilliant book
Summary: 5 Stars

It's been awhile since a book grabbed me from the first page, but this one did. The characters are very well-developed and interesting from the beginning, and the addition of the mystery surrounding the lost memory and her transformation make for a very compelling story. I found myself actively rooting for Lexi - willing her to see what was so painfully obvious! And yet, despite the fact that maybe she's a bit too trusting and might come across as a bit dense (I mean, really, why couldn't she see what was so painfully obvious?) she's eminently likeable. Who knows how anyone would react being thrust into that situation? It's a frightening scenario, and I think the flaws in her lent a great deal of credibility to the story. And you're willing her to have the storybook happy ending.

As for the ending, I won't give anything away but I will say (despite the true cheesiness of the last line) I was impressed. It was handled very well and... I liked it. It was a great finish to an engrossing story.

Though I like the Shopaholic books, this one is in a league of its own. Okay, yes, it is still a 'chick' book, but one of the better done ones. I think it would make a brilliant movie. I would recommend it to anyone who likes chick-lit, and even a few people who aren't so keen on it. Try it, it might surprise you.

Book Review: Remember Me?
Summary: 5 Stars

Time flies, yet, probably not as quickly as it has for Lexi Smart.
When she wakes up in a hospital bed, she discovers that it's three years later and things are very different from the way she remembers them to be.

In fact three years ago, Lexi was a plain-Jane entry-level employee who was wallowing in self-pity, stood up by "Loser Dave" and about to attend her father's funeral. Fast forward to the present and she is now part of the elite senior management team at work, married to a gorgeous, rich and successful Adonis and her snaggle tooth smile is replaced by a pair of shiny and straight snow white veneers.

The perfect life that she's always dreamed of came to fruition right before her eyes. But who is she? Frustrated with the fact that her memory is taking way too long to come back, Lexi solicits a little help from her new husband who unconsciously unleashes a slew of mysteries behind the part of her past that she can't remember.

It seems that Lexi's trip up the ladder of success has been a wild one and as she begins to put all of the pieces together she discovers she's not too fond of the person she's become.

REMEMBER ME? is a fun, light, and romantic read that is well written and full of hilarious moments. Miss Kinsella has definitely done it again!

Book Review: My First Sophie Kinsella Book
Summary: 5 Stars

Lexie Smart. Was she or was she not Ghandi in a previous life? The fun and farcical story of Lexie Smart has the heroine in this tale, Remember Me?, wondering how she got to a completely different station in life between the years 2004 and 2007. She believes she's stumbled into a dream life, but soon steps into a hornet's nest of complications, including finding out she's married to a "guy she just met," Eric, who is so rigid you have to sit up straighter just reading about him. She also discovers her best mates, a colorful threesome, have grown to hate her and call her the "bitch boss from hell."

Having no basis for comparison with the author's earlier works, this was just plain an enjoyable little story about a young woman trying to piece together her life after a car accident causes her to suffer from amnesia. She can't remember the last three years of her life and the drastic changes she underwent to go from a snaggletooth bumbler to a high-styled corporate bigwig married to a millionaire. It's well written, very funny and has a clever plot that kept me turning pages at a record pace. I can see why Kinsella has so many fans and look forward to reading her Shopaholic series.

Book Review: I wish I could read it for the first time again...
Summary: 5 Stars

I am a huge Sophie Kinsella fan. One of my favorite all time chick lit books is "Can You Keep a Secret?" and I've read it more than once - it is laugh-out-loud funny and lovable. I also love the Shopaholic books, some more than others.

That all being said, I would have to say that Remember Me? is now in my top 3 of Kinsella's books. I read it in one night and couldn't put it down. Yes, it is a light read as others said, but that isn't a bad thing at all! All of Kinsella's books are "light" reads! I like to be entertained by my books, that's why I read chick lit, and this book was extremely entertaining - funny, witty, but also extremely endearing - it wasn't all "fluff", there are some serious parts too. I truly liked Lexi, the main character. I wish this book, along with "Secret", could be made into a movie. It has all the makings of a great romantic comedy in written form.

I laughed out loud at many parts, and also re-read certain scenes over because I just like the way Kinsella writes - her words make me "feel" the characters' emotions.

It is one of those books that I wish I could read for the first time again. If you are a Kinsella fan, or a chick lit fan in general, read it...you won't be disappointed.

Book Review: Absolutely charming!
Summary: 4 Stars

Remember Me? is a quirky, fun novel by one of my favorite authors (and one of the few whom I'd gladly buy in hardback, pre-ordered and sight unseen from Amazon). Remember Me? features Lexi Smart, who wakes up one day to find herself twenty-eight years old, working as a director in her company, married to a (seemingly) perfect man, and the possessor of the most fabulous closet she has ever seen. The problem is, Lexi can't remember the last three years of her life, those three years having been wiped away in a car accident. Lexi frantically tries to regain her memory and figure out who she is; along the way, she learns that she's turned into a completely different person than she expected to be.

The writing is funny and quirky, and I love how Sophie Kinsella manages time and time again to suck the reader into the plot. My only problem with the plot was that the characters seemed to have changed too much in a three-year time span, especially Lexi, who turned out to be a completely different person at twenty-eight than twenty-five. Kinsella has a talent for creating protagonists (like Becky Bloomwood and Sam Sweeting) who are completely average in many ways, but who are nonetheless endearing, and Lexi Smart is one of them.
