Book Reviews of SAS Survival Guide Handbook (Collins Gem)

Book Review: SAS Survival
Summary: 5 Stars

You want the Best ..... SAS seems to have more information and detail than any of the other manuals around.
Well written and organized. Whether it is the larger 5 x 8 size or this small pocket size 3 x 5 version.
You will be surprised at how much information is in the small pocket size. . . . and illustrations of snakes, plants, insects, and fish are in color. This manual would most definitely SAVE YOUR LIFE.
It has sections on first aid, shelter, trapping, improvising and living aids. If this was all I had I could survive.

Book Review: Handy Guide - Awesome Size Too
Summary: 4 Stars

This is a handy little field guide that should help you out if you ever survive a plane crash, shipwreck, or get lost in the woods. The size of this book (about 3.5" x 3" x 1") makes it easy to take it everywhere with you. Some of the concepts require more explanation than is given, and some of the diagrams could use a little better labeling, but overall it's a great tool. After all, you can't devote 8 pages to instructions on building a lean-to.

I'd recommend it for the camper, boy-scout, and frequent traveller in your family.

Book Review: The Best Of
Summary: 5 Stars

I have read a few books on survival and this is the best one I have found up to this point. I have even read the U. S. Army's handbook and this is better.
I purchased the full size book first and then ordered this version so I could pack it easy in my backpack or day pack. The Gem version has all the same information the full size book has. I was going to purchase some survival cards to pack, but have purchased the GEM size book after finding out it was available through a survival seminar I attended with the Boy Scouts.

Book Review: The Little Book That "Could"
Summary: 5 Stars

The SAS Handbook is an amazing source for wilderness survival instruction. Added to the wealth of knowledge is the compact size that makes it easily portable for the climber or hiker. Everything you thought you'd like to know, and many things that may never have occurred to you, are written about in clear, concise language. It is well organized in its content arrangement, which can be a blessing when info is required on an ASAP need-to-know basis. A great tuck-and-go product filled with very useful info and techniques.

Book Review: Vital Survival Info in a Perfect Size
Summary: 5 Stars

Some have said the text is too small, it's not. It's perfectly readable and clear. I'm including this book in my survival pouch (fanny pack) and bug-out bag (backpack). The information is well-organized and very helpful. It contains much of the common sense stuff you might forget as well as everything you could possibly think of to help you survive in the wilderness alone. The illustrations are very well done and help you to easily understand how to set traps, build shelters, identify edible plants, etc.
