What would you do if you had leukemia, a deadly disease? If you want to know what someone else would do, read this. This story is about a girl named Sadako who is practicing for the school race. Suddenly, her vision gets blurry, her legs get weak, and she falls to the ground!
When she got to the hospital, she finds out that she has leukemia caused by the radiation from the atom bomb, nine years earlier. Her best friend brings her a paper crane, some paper, and she tells her the 1000 paper crane legend. Then, her friend showed her how to make paper cranes.
I liked the book because I always wanted to know what happened next. If you like non-fiction books, this is the book for you. Happy reading!
Summary of Sadako and the thousand paper cranes
Hiroshima-born Sadako is lively and athletic--the star of her school's running team. And then the dizzy spells start.
