Book Reviews of Say GoodbyeBook Review: People should open their eyes Summary: 5 Stars
This is a really great read. Yes it is a brutal and disturbing read, but don't listen to people who say don't read Say Goodbye because the child abuse is so detailed. Children are abused in everyway everyday. I am happy to know that Lisa Gardner isn't afraid to remind her readers that child abuse is a real problem. So if you start to read this book and you put it down because this book goes against your morals then you are just basically turning your cheek the other way on a very serious problem. Don't be afraid to read this book because its disturbing. It should be diturbing. It should make you want to reach out to children who are abused. I loved this book it brings out everything people try to sweep under the rug.
Book Review: Confusing Summary: 3 Stars
This book was a real page turner -- I couldn't put it down. However, I gave it only 3 stars because I found that by the time it ended, I was totally confused as to who the bad guy(s)were. Can anyone explain to me how many total abusers and abusees there were. I count 4, but I'm really not sure. If only the italicized writing were identified, it would have been a lot easier to keep track of the abusers. There certainly were parts of the story that were very graphic and not at all pleasant. Unfortunately, I believe that this kind of thing goes on all the time in our world; that's the really scary part of it, not the spiders.
Book Review: SAY GOODBYE TO THIS BOOK Summary: 1 Stars
After reading and enjoying every Lisa Gardner book, this was a disappointment. First: If you have a fear of bugs--especially spiders, don't' read this book. Second: The rape, kidnapping and torture of young boys is beyond my understanding why Ms. Gardner would even attempt this subject? The book is confusing with the characters due to current times and flashbacks and should have had dates. Who did the kidnapping, torturing, killing, etc.? The names became more a mystery than the book. Bodies hung in trees with spiders--UGG! Although I'm a big fan of Lisa Gardner, I recommend you "Say Goodbye" to this one.
Book Review: Not Her Best Summary: 3 Stars
While this book was better than the last few novels by this author, I really can't say it was one of her best.
I don't remember the character of Kimberly being quite this unlikeable in other books, but it made it very difficult for me to root for or care about her. And while I understand they were intrical to the story, there was just way too much spidering going on, much of it boring detail about which I couldn't care less. Finally, there were way too many characters and shifting points of view, and I often found myself getting confused about who was speaking or who was who.
Book Review: Upsetting Summary: 3 Stars
I love Lisa Gardner books. This book is also another great Gardner thriller. However I have to agree with many of the other reviews. It's just to upsetting to read. It's probably a very real depiction of the true horror of crimes against children. She also brings attention to the fact that it is a vicious cycle of those who were abused often becoming the abuser. As a read I just could not enjoy it. I was disturbed and not in a good way. Quite frankly I think it was too real. I rather be ignorant of these things.
Please read her other books, because she writes great thrillers.
