Book Review: Virtually Worthless (Especially If You Have Encarta)

This is the last straw.
I bought my son this encyclopedia several years ago, and I can't tell you how many times I encouraged him to look up something (or he wanted to find out more about a person or topic on his own), and there was NO MENTION of it in this encyclopedia.
The latest misfire for this "encyclopedia"? He wanted to learn more about Amelia Earhart because of the Night at the Museum 2. Yow won't believe this, but she is NOT in this encyclopedia! Not even mentioned in it! (I looked in the index, too, in case she was part of some expanded area on aviators).
I can't remember the other common people and things he has wanted to look up over the last few years (I was going to write a review before, but didn't), but it's ridiculous what IS included in this encyclopedia--as well as the glaring omissions. (One of them was a famous composer; can't remember who right now.)
Can't recommend another children's encyclopedia, though, because I bought this after returning one that was even WORSE than this one!
Colorful pictures, yes, and nice text with great charts--but it's NOT a good encyclopedia for kids, especially homeschoolers wanting to know more about figures from history.
My advice? Get your child the Microsoft Encarta 2006 encyclopedia instead. My son is on his computer right now learning about Amelia. (You may want to snatch it up quickly; MS won't be making Encarata anymore. Although you won't be able to get updates, all the relevant historical information will be there--including movie clips, audio clips, charts, pictures, comprehensive text, etc.)
