Book Reviews of Seduce Me at Sunrise (The Hathaways, Book 2)Book Review: Best Tortured Hero I've read so far! 4.5* Kev Merripen is memorable Summary: 5 Stars
I borrowed this book from my friend, coz nothing keep me interest in buying more of LK's book after I have the Wallflower series & read "Dreamin of you"... Sorry, but LK's book seem a bit flat ( I mean the 'plot' ) compare of other authors lately I've read such Maggie Osborne, LaVyrle Spencer, Virginia Henley & etc.
However this book is beyond my expectation, I never thought story of Merripen will that** wonderful!
Well, Merripen will be one of my fav Hero after all, He is so...I dont' know how to describe. Maybe the most lovable, protective, edgy, & jealous Hero (ofcourse imo, this book has the best 'jealous' ). Oh, and one more thing, perhaps the best 1st-love scene ..maybe because of the tension which has bare too long.
Merripen love to Win is Total & Superb! I love this type of Hero. Tortured but not too brooding. Rough but really gentle to Heroine. Great book! Merripen is awesome!!
You just have to read it by yourself. Very memorable love story.
Book Review: Silly Summary: 2 Stars
This is the thrid Kleypas book I've read and I don't think her brand of HR is for me. The heroines are always silly, and are surrounded by silly women. Sure they play at being smart/tough/witty/whatever, but they always come across as silly. I was annoyed to have to read so much of the set up for future book.
Win was selfish, needy and annoying. Her constant "love me Kev, lets have a baby even if it might kill me" got tired FAST. Kev was a cartoonish character easily found in any number of HRs. His main line was "I love you and want to have sex with you, but it might kill you if you have my kid so I'll just reject you again and brood". BTW there were ways of preventing pregnancy in those days, you'd think they would know about them and be able to talk about their options together. Win saying it's my decision so I'll do as I like was the most selfish thing she said. I like my HRs a bit more intense, with less fluff and not silly. I'll go back to Sherry Thomas.
Book Review: Good but not Great... Summary: 4 Stars
!!!A question to all of Lisa's biggest fans!!! She has written so many books and it's impossible to remember them all but wouldn't you agree the storyline in this book mirrors, almost exactly to one of her earlier ones? The whole time I was reading "Seduce Me At Sunrise" I felt like I've read it before. Did any of you feel that way too? Okay, so for my review...I have to agree with a few other comments about this book. It was good but not that great. Lisa is one of my Top 5 authors and I always expect (and usually get) total greatness from her. The story for me was a little weak. I've read all of her books and for the first time ever I really didn't get attached to the characters, although I was so happy to get updated on the Westcliffs, Hunts, Cam and Amelia. So yes I'm pushing it giving the book 4 Stars, but I can't bring myself to give Kleypas anything less.
Book Review: She's done it again! Summary: 5 Stars
If I had to describe this book in just a couple of words they would be heartbreaking and longing. Even without a single love scene I would give this book a hot rating because the longing between Merripen and Win is palpable. We can feel it seething on every page. It's a rare book where I can feel everything the writer has written as vividly as I felt in this book. For me, this is the perfect blend of all things I love in a romance - a to die for hero who is filled with angst and who would do ANYTHING for the heroine, a heroine who knows what she wants and isn't afraid to go after it. Dark at times and light at others - enough to make me smile and chuckle in places, a secondary character who was lost to all, but was on the road to recovery, important scenes with characters from the previous book that we loved, well written love scenes, this book has it all.
Book Review: Next book in the series please.. Summary: 3 Stars
OK - I love Lisa Kleypas and Mine till Midnight is one of my favourites. Seduce me at Sunrise had me interested the moment I read the teaser chapter online and it was a good read. I enjoyed the story and learning more about the Hathaway family (especially Leo who stole the show), and will without a doubt enjoy reading the rest of the Hathaway series when available.
...BUT it just did not live up to its fabulous presecessor, Mine Till Midnight (which I absolutely adored!), I felt like half the book was already over (there were numerous flashbacks) and the romance and passion was seriously lacking - it felt clinical and cold. Though I loved Win and Kev in the first book, I just didn't feel much for them in this one. So overall a good read, a nice stepping stone to I hope, something better! Roll on Leo's story....
