Book Reviews of Sex for One: The Joy of SelflovingBook Review: Wonderful, liberating, positive! Summary: 5 Stars
This is one of my favorite sex books. It has been out for forever and a day and I hope it continues to stay in print. The adults that I teach about sexuality have found it to be a helpful resource. Many women need reassurance that their masturbation is normal and healthy. This book will do it. Betty Dodson is a national treasure!
I also like The Big Book of Masturbation and Betty Dodson's video series. Highly recommended.
Book Review: The bible of female masturbation Summary: 5 Stars
Very little needs to be said about this book. It is the best book available on female masturbation. It covers some technique, some psychological, and some testimonial aspects. Whether you're unsure about trying to masturbate, or if you masturbate and want to read more about it, this is the book. It is mostly about women, however. It is appropriate and worth reading if you are a woman or the partner of a woman.
Book Review: Very Disappointed Summary: 1 Stars
I was really disappointed especially because I had read so many positive reviews of the book. It very boring and the only exercises there actually were was one little chapter. The book was more of an autobigraphy of the author as well as about the history of the acceptance of women's masturbation which I could have read online if i wanted to. I wouldn't consider this a self-help book at all.
Book Review: More than just a "how-to". Summary: 5 Stars
I expected a "how-to" style book, explaining techniques and tricks for getting yourself off. You can get that out of it, but there's more to this book. With new understandings about sexuality and about yourself, you may have more fun with a partner and alone. As the author writes a lot about her personal experience, it is geared more towards women, but I'd recommend this book to men also.
Book Review: Fairly obvious material with boring autobiography Summary: 1 Stars
Maybe this was helpful 20 years ago, but as the author herself states in the foreward, masturbation is relatively accepted now. If you've masturbated before you probably don't need this. And if you hadn't you probably wouldn't want to read a book on it anyway. Author illustrates the book, and the pictures are pretty interesting. I swear that one of them is Lenin masturbating.
