Book Reviews of Skeletons at the Feast

Book Review: Wonderful, couldn't put it down
Summary: 5 Stars

This was such a good and entertaining read!

Set at the end of World War II, real events are mixed with a fictional story. The story is beautifully told-of the friendship, devotion, and love a group of people share (The Emerlichs, Callum, and Uri) during all of the utter and unbelievable hate of this war.

The description is so detailed, and the author portrays real events with realism.

Book Review: A Reader's Feast
Summary: 5 Stars

A trek across the war-zone from East Prussia across Germany into the on-coming Allied Forces. . . characters ranging from a Jewish escapee to an upper class German family and a Scots POW in their care. The details of war are horrific, but the characters are deeply imagined, people we can cheer for. Read this book! It is definitely as intriguing as Bohjalian's other big seller and favorite, "Midwives."

Book Review: Awesome read
Summary: 5 Stars

Once again I have found a keeper from Mr Bohjalian. This is WWII historical fiction at it's best. Finally the end of the war is coming and this is the story of just a few of the many with a heart wrenching story to tell. I was grabbed from the first few pages and was never let down from there. A strong story about the dehumanization of war and the resiliency of the human spirit. A must read.

Book Review: Haunting, but wonderful
Summary: 5 Stars

I am a huge Chris Bohjalian fan. It all started with Midwives, and he has yet to disappoint me. Try Water Witches if you're a Midwives fan! Many scenes in this novel were very disturbing, but necessary to create the character attachment.
I would consider this book to be one of my top 5 for the year and I'm a "voracious reader"! (my mom's quote).
Loved Skeletons!

Book Review: Skeletons at the Feast
Summary: 4 Stars

A compelling story that tells of the lives of people surrounded by war. How the human spirit reacts to cruelty, poverty, acts of kindness, and trying to survive daily life under conditions that are unimaginable in today's world. A great read that my book club of fifteen members thought was a great book.
