Book Reviews of Someone Came Before YouBook Review: A Good Discussion Starter Summary: 5 Stars
If you are in the difficult place of needing this book . . . Our three year old son has started asking more questions about the two babies we pray for every night. A friend had given us "We Were Going To Have A Baby But We Gad An Angel Instead" after our first baby was stillborn. I highly recommend that book as well however, it did not fit our situation exactly. This book provides a good conversation starting point for children who have had an older sibling that died, especially when they reach an age where they are asking a lot of questions. It is a faith based book, please keep that in mind when purchasing to make sure it is congruent with you beliefs. Our three year old has begun to have a better understanding that (for us) two babies came before him, helping mommy and daddy to be ready for his special arrival, and while our love for him is endless we also miss the babies we have in heaven.
Book Review: A must have for subsequent children after a loss Summary: 5 Stars
This book is wonderful. It's going to be a very special tool I will use to tell my daughter of her sister in heaven, because if it weren't for her, my daughter wouldn't be here. But how do you tell that to a child? I'm so glad I will have this book to use to help with that discussion. It is written, however, from more of a stillbirth or neonatal death standpoint, so it won't work as well for miscarriage. Just a heads up. Overall it is a well written book with kid friendly images and a definite must have.
Book Review: Someone Came Before You Summary: 4 Stars
Our four year old daughter is at the age where she has begun to ask more questions about her big brother in heaven, our first child, who died when he was eight and a half months old.
This book is perfect for toddlers and preschoolers...I wish we had it a year ago and it had been a part of our library before. It does a a spiritual element to it (baby is an angel...etc...) but that is what we believe and tell our daughter.
Book Review: Beautiful Summary: 5 Stars
We bought this book for our daughter, after losing our son 2 years before.
It's very well written, and I expect it to really help when the time comes that she asks about her brother...
I def. recommend it for any parents who will one day want to explain their angel baby to their living child(ren).
Book Review: touching book Summary: 5 Stars
This is a very touching book. I bought it for my son Alexander Grant who arrived 3 1/2 years after his older brother Grant Ryan was stillborn. Although Alexander is only a baby, I love the message of the book and I do think it is important for him to know of the brother who came before him.
