Book Reviews of Speak No Evil: A NovelBook Review: Another exciting ride Summary: 5 Stars
Allison Brennan does it again with a great suspense story involving police detective Carina Kincaid and Sheriff Nick Thomas. Carina suspects Steve Thomas brother of the Sheriff in the hideous murder of an 18 year old girl. Nick is determined to prove his brother did not kill the girl. Sparks fly as the search for the serial killer continues. Eventually they work together in more ways than one.
This is a must read for anyone who likes a suspense story that will make you want to leave the night light on. I can't wait to read the next two books in the trilogy, "See no Evil" and "Fear no Evil." They will be coming out one at a time in the next couple months.
I also suggest that if you have not read her hit trilogy "The Prey" "The Hunt"and"The Kill" from last year you do so. They were great and definitely worth the time and money.
Book Review: Pretty Good Summary: 4 Stars
This book kept me on the edge of my seat. I really enjoyed it. I loved all the characters and got involved with them. One of the main characters is from Ms. Brennen's last trilogy, The Kill. You don't have to read that book in order to understand this book but it will help you understand some of the back story. I know some of the other reviewers found that Ms. Brennen's descriptions were gory but I felt that it was tastefully done and that it added to the story. I enjoyed the insight of Dillion Kincaid's profiling and how they process evidence. I loved the interaction between Nick Thomas and Carina Kincaid. I felt like it was genuine. This is a semi-romance book. There's not a lot in it but it flows with the storyline. I really enjoyed it and can't wait to read See No Evil. I recommend her past trilogy too.
Book Review: Another winner. Summary: 5 Stars
I loved Brennan's first trilogy, so I expected nothing less from Speak No Evil. I was not disappointed. It was suspenseful and very creepy. The main characters were real and likeable.
The only negative thing I can say about it, is Carina was a little flat at first, not a lot of personality and the chemistry between her and Nick was not as sizzling as her main characters in her first trilogy. On the other hand, there was a lot of police procedure in this one and that didn't leave a lot of room for personality to stand out. But her relationship with her family was real and a good set up for the remaining two books in the series.
This is a must read. I am anxiously looking forward to reading See No Evil and Fear No Evil.
Book Review: Excellent! Summary: 5 Stars
This is another stay up late, edge of your seat, can't put it down story from Ms. Brennan. The action is fast paced, the characters are likeable, and the suspense is gripping. I read this one out of order (it was my first Allison Brennan book), not realizing it was the same series as The Prey, The Hunt, & The Kill. The change of title fooled me into thinking I had book 1 of a new series. However, that did not effect my enjoyment of the book. It has a few references to The Kill, but not so much you feel the need to put it down and read the other first. It stands on it's own. I immediately ran out and bought the rest of her books when I finished this one. Speak No Evil is next for me. So far, I consider my purchases money well spent.
Book Review: SPEAK NO EVIL Summary: 3 Stars
Carina Kincaid is a young detective who is investigating a disturbing string of murders. With the help of her partner and her prime suspect's brother, she links the murders to an on-line journal. The romance between Nick and Carina was ridiculously juvenile and typical of Danielle Steel, while the mystery/suspense portion was so unsettling because of Allison Brennan's over-the-top violent and graphic details. There were several times when I wanted to put the book down and never pick it up again, but I did, hence the three stars (I did finish it). Overall, for me, the book was more upsetting than entertaining.
