Book Review: It's Fun fun fun! in Squirrel's World

This is a beautiful and adorable book... full color illustrations with sensitive luscious watercolors help this easy reader stand out from the crowd. Squirrel is a memorable character, like many young children blindly enthusiastic about helping out. My four year old son certainly identifies with Squirrel and his overexcited way of aiding all his friends, AND the tree, AND the river...
Squirrel and all his little friends have such distinct characters that lead to and flesh out the adventures: hardworking mouse putting aside supplies for winter, slow-moving relaxed sleepy turtle who finds a way to play with Squirrel the Ever Zippy, Rabbit who really dislikes getting wet and will do much to save himself from the rain. Each time Squirrel throws himself into helping out and we can't help both smiling and wincing at his results. Squirrel's friends are more than kind despite the trouble he causes, and he remains enthusiastic and optimistic to the very end. How comforting for kids who "just want to help, mommy!" and get it all wrong!
We took this book out of the library, and have run out of the option to renew it yet again, so I am here looking to buy. I would highly recommend this to youngsters age 3.5 to 8... the younger ones will see themselves in Squirrel, and the older ones will laugh at his antics while practicing their reading with the delightfully repetitive and charming text.
