Book Review: Don't judge a book by its cover Summary: 5 Stars
I returned from a July, 2007 trip to St. John thinking that this book - that I stumbled upon in our villa - was superior to the Fodors, Frommers, and Off the Beaten Track books I had hauled over to the island in my suitcase. I had seen it on Amazon but had been put off by its cover. Well, I was wrong. This updated, fun to read book was my main guide on the island and it proved very accurate and informative. Ms. Gaffin obviously knows her subject and happily shares her love of this beautiful island.
Book Review: St. John : Feet, Fins and Four Wheel DriveAn excellent resource Summary: 5 Stars
We used this book everyday in St. John to locate beaches, hikes, and places to visit. It is a good comprehensive overview but also includes details about each area as well as information on driving (on the left) and snorkeling. Our host home included several travel books on St. John's that were very helfpul and included other perspectives. I also recommend "Off the Beaten Path-St. John." I hope you'll love St. John's as much as I did. I'm ready to return!
Book Review: take this with you to st john Summary: 5 Stars
If you're just going to read one book on St John, this is the one. It's very comprehensive and I used it just about every day of our trip. This book also had wry comments sprinkled throughout about the local scene - the nudist that lives alongside the beginning of one trail, the tractor that sat unused for so long that someone started to decorate it for holidays, the state of the (steeeep) roads! What a great book.
Book Review: Just returned from St. John Summary: 5 Stars
Just returned from St. John. The book is fabulous and represents St. John as it is. The driving directions are excellent, the descriptions are accurate and the humor and stories about the island are typical of what you will experience. Love the book and would recommend it to everyone that is contemplating a vacation there. It is humorous and interesting to read. Excellent purchase.
