Book Reviews of Stone ColdBook Review: Haunted by the Past Summary: 5 Stars
Filled with suspense, thriller, and excitement, Stone Cold is everything I expected from a Baldacci's novel. The author grabbed my attention right from the beginning and held it until the very end of the novel.
Oliver Stone is the leader of the mysterious Camel Club. The Camel Club consists of three other men with different personalities and jobs ranging from a librarian, ex-soldier, and a genius with OCD. In the past, members of the Camel Club have band together to carry out esoteric missions that have saved the life of their leader. The Camel Club may be called on again to help their leader and friend. Stone's past life is threatening to catch-up with his present life. Some of Stone's co-workers from the past are turning up dead. Is it possible that these deaths are not coincidental and that the person/persons responsible for the deaths knows about Stone and wants him dead too. Will Stone's secret life be exposed because of this scandal? Thanks to the former head of the CIA, Carter Gray, Stone might get the opportunity to find out. Gray's connection with a secret ploy to have two of Russia's head of state leaders killed may haunt him and Stone.
I have enticed you enough. You will have to read the book to find out what happens :-)
Book Review: Great conclusion to Baldacci's Camel Trilogy Summary: 5 Stars
This is the third of David Baldacci's books to feature the Camel Club. I do not know if he had three books with the Camel Club in mind initially, but he pulled it off brilliantly. This one, Stone Cold, is better than his last. I will point out that the books are best read in order because each book builds on the one previous.
Two stories unfold, one of which is the conclusion to Annabelle Conroy's saga with Jerry Bagger. Annabelle took the casino owner (and the person responsible for her moms murder) to the cleaners for millions and Jerry does not forget. Meanwhile, Stone has a killer looking for his old comrades in the spook world and then for Stone himself once it slips put that he is alive and well. The book is sometimes told through the eyes of the killer so we can see his reasoning and perspective.
I could not put it down after I started reading it. The plot skips along at a break neck pace and Baldacci keeps you jumping from one location to another. Another great work! I cannot wait for his next.

Book Review: Another exciting Baldacci novel Summary: 5 Stars
In this "Camel Club" novel, where an unlikely group of friends band together to help one another, Baldacci weaves a minor plot about one of the friends who has conned a ruthless casino owner out of millions with a more dramatic plot about how the Cold War with Russia catches up with the present. Without giving away any surprises, Oliver Stone a/k/a John Carr, former CIA assassin, confronts a terrible mistake that he made in the past in "terminating" an innocent man who was falsely branded a traitor. As Stone uncovers the mystery, he finds himself embroiled in the lives of the dead man's family and must act to prevent the further injustice of that family being silenced by the same men who decades ago wrongfully ordered the execution of the husband/father.
This is classic Baldacci--nonstop action, interesting character development, and an ending that neatly ties everything together. I am a big fan and as usual found it hard to put this book down. This is fun adventure reading at its best.
Book Review: The best yet in the Camel Club series! Summary: 5 Stars
The eclectic crew of the Camel Club are back in action and better than ever! First, if you have not read the The Camel Club or The Collectors I highly recommend you do before starting this book. Especially read The Collectors as this is a continuation of a story line from that book. The Stone and the boys' skills are tested as they try to protect Annabella Conroy from the crazy casino owner Jerry Bagger, who Annabella has conned Millions from (see The Collectors). But Stone's attention is soon diverted when old deeds and causes come back to haunt him. Don't want to ruin the surprises but a new deadly Villain is waiting in the wings, and is killing Triple Six members one at a time, is Stone next on the list. This is a gripping, fully loaded thriller, with surprising twists that delivers on all cylinders!
Book Review: Love the Camel Club Series Summary: 5 Stars
I always find "series" books to be hit or miss. Some series are great, some last too long (how is Lucas Davenport still going strong?), and some are just plain BAD (love Harlan Coben, but abhor the Myron Bolitar series)! Having said that - for now I put the Camel Club books in the GREAT category. Sure the action and twists and turns can be a little hard to believe, but the characters are deep and varied. Some are stereotypical and others are totally real and believable. Baldacci blends them so well in these books. This one has so many intertwining plots it was very difficult to not finish in one night. Sooner or later we're going to have to see a Camel Club movie from one of these books. Go get the book and enjoy!
