Book Review: Stopping the Stormbreaker

You can feel the exhilarating suspense build as you travel through the exciting adventure of Alex Rider's life. Alex will yank you into this great book for all seventh graders and young adults.
The character of Alex Rider, a smart, talented fourteen year old, gives this book an exciting edge that will have you feeling as if you are about to plummet off of a mile-high cliff into a raging river below. The death of his beloved uncle Ian Rider leaves Alex shaken and asking questions. He had died because he didn't have his seat belt on, but wasn't that his most enforced regulation? His life was turned upside down and inside out when he learned his uncle was a spy and was on a mission to stop the production of a computer called the Stormbreaker when he was murdered. There was something up with this computer, a hidden, unknown mystery. While he is going undercover to solve the case his uncle was working on and why he was murdered for it, Alex has to deal with all sorts of teen insecurities. As though he was being constantly pursued by danger, Alex is constantly using his skills he developed over the years of his short life and spy training camp. Each time he discovers a new clue, Alex is attacked by one of the enemy's bulky thugs. Alex, a first-grade black belt, sends the henchmen flying with a single, lethal kick, the Ushirogeri. He advances through obstacles such as tight, water-logged tunnels and being chased by armed men on all-terrain vehicles. This character truly gives this book the Ushirogeri it needs to send it soaring to the next level.

Alex was harassed by a cluster of heavily armed men in an auto junkyard when he was trying to investigate his uncle's murder. He was even thrown into a large tank of water with a gigantic killer jellyfish that nearly stung him to death. The suspense and action in scenes such as this one make this book one amazing work of art.
Every twist and turn of this story will make anyone fall in love with this incredible book. I would recommend this book to all seventh graders and young adults. The final, thrilling twist of this book will leave you desperate to read the sequel, Point Blank.
