Book Reviews of Strength Training Anatomy - 2nd EditionBook Review: Awesome Strength Training Book Summary: 5 Stars
This is a great book for anyone with a basic knowledge of weight training. It doesn't go into details of how to build a program, how much weight one should lift, how many reps vs. sets one should do, etc. It is merely a book of strength training exercises broken down by muscle group. It highlights which muscles are used per exercise, and goes into some detail about injuries one may incur while working various muscle groups. I have been lifting for over two years now, and this book gave me a multitude of different exercises to shake up my routines. It has a variety of types of equipment to use (free weights, cables, machines) which provides readers with many options based off what you like to do and what is available for you. I thoroughly enjoy the cable exercises. I hardly used cables before this book, but now they are some of my favorite exercises. I have shown this book to fellow weight lifters, and everyone has liked it. Some people have even ordered their own copy. I have to mention that I am in the military, so many people around me value new training ideas.
Book Review: Great Book, but 3rd Edition could be even better Summary: 4 Stars
I was recommended this book by an acquaintance on the Bodybuilding.com. After using the book, for my own personal workouts it has helped me to know how the exercises are to be done correctly with the smallest chance for injury. This is a great book and worth the money. The artwork on the various muscle groups and associated exercises is very detailed and colorful. However I would suggest additions to the book if there were a 3rd edition:
- Having an index section for finding certain exercises or prominently mentioned muscle groups on certain pages throughout the book.
- Mention that the barbell triceps extension exercise is aka the skullcrusher.
- Have included a poster size version of the muscular skeleton. I know the book cover already has the pictures, but I'd prefer something I could hang on the wall.
- If possible, the book in an electronic format like a PDF file on CD.
These are just some of my personal suggestions. If you want to buy the book, please go right ahead. It is simple, detailed, and informative.
Book Review: What muscle is that? Summary: 4 Stars
You're definitely going to know the names of all the muscles in the human body after studying this book a while. Exercises using weights and machines are explained, and the different muscle groups that each exercise employs are shown on very finely-detailed drawings. I think the drawings are the best feature of this book; all are basically black-and-white images, but the muscles used are shown in red. While I would have liked more detail on exactly how to perform each exercise for arms, shoulders, chest, back, etc., I like how the author indicates that certain muscles are worked harder for some variations of the exercise than others. For example, the standard bench press works the pectoralis major, pectoralis minor, anterior deltoid, and a couple other muscle groups. But if you narrow the length of the bar between your hands, you will "isolate the central part of the pectoralis" rather than the lateral portion. Good to know! The only way to improve this book is to add more exercises, as not all of us have access to free weights or machines.
Book Review: One of the best "know how" book s for strength traing Summary: 5 Stars
This book is as good as I decided to send each of my family a pair, One for men and one for women. I have made my traing plan by refrance to this book pages, in case I forgot how. In other words this book is my daily traning book.
Strength traning for men could be much better if it had divided tranings to two part of "Mass making" and "deffnition building" of muscells.
No one has time to make all tranings, regardless of Mass or deffniation making. If there was a prioritaize list by trainngs effectivitet, it could make it much easier for bigginers (those whom has not time to do all trainngs) to chose which traning is the most important, and do that in their short time.
I have used Muscle and fitness DVD's divition of Mass and Diffination. I want to build Mass. Therefore I found Mass tranings first in Muscle and Fitness DVD, then found them in Strength traning for men and made my traning plan by reffrances to this book.
My traning plan is good. It work and I can see my muscles grow bigger.

Book Review: One of the best illustrations on training anatomy Summary: 5 Stars
I chanced upon this book a year back in BJs and happen to grab it. I still think it was one of the best buys. The book has got one of the best illustrations on strength training anatomy. The book is divided into various sections with a set of excercises to develop strength in specific areas of anatomy. The text along with the illustrations are also very good and helpful. They also have specific dicussions on wears and tears in different muscles due to specific excercises.
I have followed the book and have been successful in toning my body. When my brother in law, who is a fitness enthusiast and a practicing doctor, visited me from Oman, he too liked the book and we ordered a copy for him through Amazon. Fully satisfied and will recommend this book to any fitness enthusiast, of any level.
There is a women's version of this book. Its a good book too but I think this book covers both the sexes pretty well.
