Book Reviews of Stretching Anatomy

Book Review: A great stretching resource!
Summary: 5 Stars

I've been a runner and athlete for over a decade, and even having learned dozens of stretches along the way, this book was well worth the money. It's very comprehensive - contains stretches for every muscle group and even describes the supporting muscle groups you're using when doing a particular stretch. The visuals are clear and helpful as well. The explanations are very easy to follow, and I love that it gives tips within each stretch for increasing the intensity or stretching slightly different muscles with a slightly different motion.

Book Review: Easy to understand and implement
Summary: 5 Stars

Love this book. You don't have to know anatomy to understand what this book is saying. It's very easy to digest and is full of tips and added commentary. This is a very thorough book. I think is a great book for a novice looking to increase their flexibility, most of the stretches are suitable for all body types and variations are included on some more difficult stretches. This book even includes a short regiment explaining to you how to stretch for various degrees of fliexibility.

A very complete guide for great price.

Book Review: Great book!
Summary: 5 Stars

As a Licensed Massage Therapist knowlegable with Anatomy I really like this books simplicty showing groups of muscles related with variouse streches. Its great at the end of my sessions for review. I can give clients informed ideas for different streches and know that I am specificaly addressing the tense muscles and tight tendons that I identified threw my massage sessions. Not only does this book do a great job with muscles I have enjoyed the Kinesiology aspect (muscle actions) incorporated within it! Well done! Great buy and value!

Book Review: Stretching Anatomy
Summary: 3 Stars

Whilst this book is OK, only about half of the drawings have the anatomy drawn onto the person performing the stretch, which is really disappointing. The accompanying text for each stretch (about 70 in total) is useful. A much better bet would be The Anatomy of Stretching by Brad Walker, which includes 114 stretches, with each drawing featuring detailed anatomy of the muscles being worked. (The text in the Walker book also relates each stretch to relevant sports, which is an excellent feature to complete the picture for the reader.)

Book Review: clear and concise
Summary: 5 Stars

The illustrations are outstanding and even younger students can make sense of them. It's a great addition to the ballet teacher's bookcase and is helpful when you can't quite figure out how to increase flexibility in a pupil with, for instance, limited turnout. It gives several options for stretches and shows the primary as well as the secondary muscle groups being worked on. It gives thorough information so that all the stretches are safely performed. I recommend this book for anyone currently teaching dancers/gymnasts/athletes.
