Book Reviews of Suite 606Book Review: Forced from the get-go, just plain bad writing Summary: 1 Stars
Similar to other authors, I like the JD Robb books and buy these anthologies to "discover" new writers I might like. These three can certainly stay on the bookshelf, the writing was awful. Even the Eve Dallas story was forced, though the writing was good. The "suite 606" theme was ABSURD and made absolutely no sense in the second story and was an afterthought in the third story. I generally like these anthologies, just don't force some silly theme on all the stories.
Book Review: 3 Out of 4 are good Summary: 3 Stars
This book is different takes in different times of Room 606. Four authors. The first three grab you and spin their tales well. The 4th on by McDomas is not that good. I am struggling to finish it. The plot is way out there, the story slow moving, and there is not building like the others of a crescendo as the story moves along. All in all the book is worth the money, but don't be surprised if the last story loses the fantasy of the book for you.
Book Review: Suite 606 Thread Unneccessary Summary: 4 Stars
I read all 4 stories as if there was no common thread. Each was "enchanting"- not exciting, just pleasant short reads. I felt that the tie in of "Suite 606" as well as bringing a character from a preceeding story was ridiculous. This came across as very contrived. Each story could stand on its' own. I loved the characters and wished the stories could be longer. I think this book is best enjoyed for it's "time travel" techniques.
Book Review: Don't Bother if You Like Thrills Summary: 1 Stars
I love the supernatural and suspense in books, so that is why I downloaded this to my Kindle. I read it on vacation and did not find it entertaining at all. It did not hold my interest and I could never get into the characters. The worst story was about a gambling, no good husband who comes back as a ghost. Very poorly done. I wouldn't bother reading it when there are so many good books out there.
Book Review: Read the JD Robb Story--Skip the Rest Summary: 1 Stars
Not to repeat the other reviewers, but I too read these anthologies to try out new authors. Don't bother with this one. Other than the JD Robb story (which I thought was a bit formulaic and hastily written), the others are poorly written and very contrived. I took the book out of my local library, and am very glad I spent no money on it.
