Book Reviews of Sundays at Tiffany'sBook Review: Uggghhhh Summary: 1 Stars
If I could rate this book half a star I would. I'm so glad I didn't BUY this book (checked it out from the library) because I couldn't read more then 10 pages. This book is written for pre-teens or for "teeny-boppers" (to use a very antiquated term). I mean, this is less than chic-lit (worse than?), which I happen to enjoy during the summer (Jane Greene, Sophie Kinsella, Marion Keyes). Bottom line, this book has NO depth, worse than a "light read" and my brain experienced negative energy in order to read the few pages I did. I really hope I'm conveying the message here to all you veteran Patterson fans. Plus, the font is so big, and the margins so wide that the book is about half the size of what it appears to be. Quit wasting my time!!!! What happened to the James Patterson of Alex Cross?
Book Review: Different...but I enjoyed it! Summary: 4 Stars
I have to say the "idea" of this book didn't grab me as much as the last two love stories Patterson wrote. However, I was the first one in the store to buy this Monday morning.
Overall, I enjoyed the book. I loved Jane's humor, most women can relate to her sweet tooth craving and fighting to say "no!" She was easy to fall in love with as a little girl in the beginning. Michael was a perfect listener, he was kind and handsome...a perfect love story character. I did think the imaginary friend thing was a little weird, but it seemed to work, if you (as a reader) don't mind using a little imagination in the story!
The ending wasn't as of a suprise as I was hoping. I won't give a thing away, but maybe it's because I read too much!? Overall, 4 stars!
Book Review: No disappointment here. Just loved it.! Summary: 4 Stars
A friend gave me this book to read. She enjoyed it and thought I would also. I was a little suspicious since this is another novel Patterson has released with a co-author and in the past I have been disappointed. However, with Sundays at Tiffany's I found no disappointment here. I thought the story was just wonderful.
In the two main characters, Jane and Michael, I enjoyed Jane's humorous side and her life as a child and an adult. This heroine was drawn out and described in such a way that I just couldn't help but like her. Then there was Michael's and his attentive nature. That was a nice touch. There have been many reviews that described the plot so I won't go into detail about it. The ending was a bit of let down but overall I enjoyed the book.
Book Review: Touching Love Story Summary: 4 Stars
I really liked this book. The story of a girl who falls in love with her imaginary best friend (who somehow becomes real) is a nice idea for an "imaginary plot", and it was light, easy reading. I read it in a day. To be honest, I checked it out from the library since it's so short. If you like love stories, you will like this sweet story. I did not get a James Patterson feeling from the book though, (and it does have a co-writer). If you're looking for more of a Patterson-type book, this may not be your cup of tea, or your favorite coffee ice cream, hot-fudge sundae. I do like the way the story switches between first person, for Jane, and third-person, for Michael. The book has some nice imagery also. It will probably be made into a movie starring Reese Witherspoon as Jane.
Book Review: Schmaltz Summary: 2 Stars
I was so looking forward to getting this book. I tried very hard to like it. When my husband and I attend a movie that turns out to be mediocre, we just say, "it was a Saturday matinee." The translation being that it filled in time and was moderately entertaining if you don't ask too many questions. This book didn't even make the matinee rank. It was sophomoric, and held a promise that it reneged on in the end. No explanation for the "gimic" in the story, not even a hint. It just ended. Now I'll put up with awful dialogue, flat characters, even a pedestrian story line. But I draw the line at a zero ending. It's like the authors didn't have a clue how to explain their gimic, so just penned the end and went to lunch. I want my money back.
