Book Reviews of SurrenderBook Review: Ugly old flabby stretched-out woman chosen to be men's fantasy: NOT! Summary: 1 Stars
Ohmygod, what a horrific and funny book. Imagine you're a wealthy group of young playboys who hire women for extended sexual fantasies and over "hot, young, well-built college girls" you choose Anna, the protagonist, who describes herself as a "road weary, ripe tomato, not the least bit girlish (translation: old), had two kids -- and all the stretchmarks to prove it, battled nature and lost, and no amount of dieting or exercise could undo what carrying babies did to my body." The men are in their late 20s and early 30s, so she is presumed around 45 years old by further descriptions. Imagine the keg-gutted, loud-mouthed shrew with bad hair and perpetual lemon face that is Patricia Heaton (Everybody Loves Raymond) and you get the picture. There are lots of problems here, so let's get to them.
First, NO MAN is ever going to make this hag his fantasy, much less pay her exorbitant amounts of money to have sex with her. And certainly no younger, hot, rich man. Nature doesn't work that way, nor does the real world. And as a fantasy erotica story, it's like casting Clint Howard as the romantic lead of a blockbuster movie: ain't gonna happen.
Second, a woman with "little sexual experience" as old Anna bills herself is NOT going to apply for the local long-term whore job at Bruce Wayne's mansion to make enough cash to "save her kids." Divorce court doesn't work that way. Her husband had abandoned her, she gets the kids and his money, period.
Third, the story is told from her point of view, and since the book is obviously written by a woman, the sex scenes are not descriptive, but told analytically. Instead of feeling the peen, she spends seven paragraphs describing her reaction to the peen after the man takes an entire page to unzip his zipper. The pace is slow, boring, and predictable pages in advance. Worse, she spends two entire chapters -- 6 & 7 -- describing the details of her period, how that makes her feel like a "leaper" [sic], and how that messes up the contract with the men. It's pretty gross folks, remember: Patricia Heaton screaming at Ray on her period. Nothing gets a man erect quicker than the thought of that scene. Much of the book's content is spent with her giving bj's to the men and walking around the mansion naked serving them food. Yeah, that's REALLY out there, really worth paying an old saggy woman a fortune for, don't you agree?
Finally, the story is wrapped up with the lead male, Kaelen, coming to her rescue in court and "fixing" things with the judge so that she gets her kids back. But even worse, hot, hung, rich millionaire Kaelen goes one further and asked her to marry him, with the two kids in tow. Holy frickin' crap, that's BAD ON AN EPIC SCALE. A complete waste of time and money, but I read it anyway just to warn people that if you're even thinking of buying this book, go watch the monster called Patricia Heaton on the ABC show, "The Middle," each week and you'll get a picture of what you're buying in Anna. Yuck. I feel dirty and I want an adult now.
Summary of SurrenderDesperate straights call for desperate measures---If anyone had asked Anna before what she would be willing to do for money, what she'd just signed up for would NOT have been on the list. She's discovered, though, that the needy can't afford to be too picky. And, after all, what's six weeks in the scheme of things? Despite her internal pep talk, though, she discovers she isn't at all prepared for what she has to face in the mansion of ill repute-where 'no' is no longer a part of her vocabulary unless she wants to forfeit the money she needs so badly. Rating: Contains explicit sex, graphic language, and some scenes of sex with mulitple partners/ménage a trois.
