Book Reviews of Sword Song: The Battle for LondonBook Review: Great Historical Fiction!! Summary: 5 Stars
"Sword Song: The Battle for London," by Bernard Cornwell is the fourth book in the author's series, "The Saxon Tales." It was exciting from the beginning to the end. I never lost interest in the book and the battle scienes were graphic and realistic. I recommend this book to anyone interested in English History and the story of Alfred the Great.
Book Review: The weakest entry in the series Summary: 3 Stars
I've read all four of the Saxon Tales and this latest entry seems the weakest. There is a fair amount of filler, as Cornwell recounts events from the previous books for the benefit of readers new to the story. There is also endless intriguing among several similarly named characters, which is hard to follow or frankly even be interested in.
Book Review: Great for cold nights by the fireplace Summary: 5 Stars
Cornwell is a skilled teller of tales and Sword Song does not disappoint. If you like sword and shield tales, this novel is highly recommended. Sit back by the fireplace, pour yourself a dark ale, and dive into this historical adventure. It's hard to put down. Can't wait for the next installment. More please!
Book Review: London Calling Summary: 5 Stars
Another excellent addition to the story of Uhtred of Bebbanburg. The latest installment shows how he has matured and become an established family man and landed noble in grudging service to a monarch he respects yet dislikes. Look for more romance than in the last installments as Uhtred and others have grown up.
Book Review: Sword Song Summary: 4 Stars
An excellent historical novel with lots of blood, guts, and romance.I like the author because he really projects the reader back to the time period with many details, and vocabulary of the era.I have read several of Cornwell's books all provide much enjoyment. He's a real pro.
