Book Review: Great non-fiction for young adults...but quails poop a lot

Read this book when I was a 'tween. Found it again on Amazon.com. I only read non-fiction as a kid; I never liked fiction for some reason and still don't. My 'tween son loves fiction. He also read this book. It's another book in the pile of non-fiction animal books I read when I was young. It's in the vein of the James Herriot / All Creatures books. Similar books: "Mara: An Alaskan Weasel." That book was more a work of fiction, but similar in how it followed an animal around. Now, I'm a little odd in that I now have a pet quail that I raised from a chick that I hatched in an incubator. You see, I've always wanted to "re-create" this book in a sense. So now I have a pet quail. She is pretty interesting. But I must say this: The author of this book *insists* the quail in the non-fiction book rarely pooped, or just pooped once per morning on a designated spot. This is where the fiction of this non-fiction book comes in to question. :) I have had chickens and other kids of birds over the years. Experience and even a short search on the 'net shows that birds of all kinds poop approx. every 5 minutes. So this part of the book has always bugged me. :) I know, silly, but still. The author's house must have had a ton of "hidden" poops that she just never saw or something; ew. :)
