Book Reviews of The 5000 Year Leap (Original Authorized Edition)Book Review: I love America - Natural Law - In God we trust - Church and State Summary: 5 Stars
1. The Laws of the Supreme Creator are eternal, unchanging, everlasting, can not be repealed, and can not be abandoned.
2. Natural Law depends on the moral virtues of people and leaders.
3. Marcus Tullius Cicero described Natural Law as "rule of conduct". Cicero said Natural Law was reasoning and rationale and through reason and rationale the mind of God would be discovered.
4. Natural law protects the good and inflicts punishment on the wicked.
5. Natural law is composed of unalienable rights, unalienable duties, habeas corpus, limited government powers, separation of government powers, checks and balances, the right to contract, the right to reparations, the right to arms, and no taxation without representation.
Church and State
1. Without religion the government will not stop its intrusion upon a free people.
2. The wall between between Church and State is in error. Religion provides the moral voice bridling the passions and appetites of government. Equality between religions meant cooperation and free worship among the various religions and the state would not promote one religion above another through legislation.
3. The Northwest Ordinance passed by Congress in 1787 taught religion and morality in the schools. Religion, morality, and knowledge were necessary to good government. Religion examines the relationship between man and God and man and his fellow man and mans search for justice, equality, and fairness. Morality is a standard of behavior determining right and wrong. Knowledge is intellectual awareness and understanding.
4. The teaching of religion was a mutual cultural adhesive.
5. There exists a creator. The creator has revealed moral codes as a standard of behavior for happy living and to distinguish between right and wrong. The Creator holds man accountable for the manner in which he treats each other. All mankind will be resurrected and live again. The rewards in the next life depend on our conduct in this life. These are the basic beliefs that unite mankind as a whole.
6. In America, government and religion were in harmony. The constitution supported the free worship of religion and liberty. Religion was considered the first of the political institutions (John Locke) and helped maintain the republic. Religion and politics had contracted an alliance. American were free to do as they pleased, but religion "constrained them from conceiving, and forbids them to commit, what is rash and unjust", says De Tocqueville. The clergy in America did not hold seats of power or public appointments and did not engage in partisan politics. America was great because it was good.
7. However, in Europe, religion and government were at war with each other. In France, promoters of atheism and amorality had seized control and turned the French Revolution into excessive violence and carnage. Europe was plagued by unbelief in God and debasement. Clergy in Europe held seats of power. The unbelievers attacked the Christians as political opponents rather than religious adversaries. Europe rejected the clergy as representatives of deity.
8. The founders wanted to provide legal equality for all religions, both Christian and non-Christian. The State government should not favor one religion over another. Equality of religions was the desired goal. Freedom of religion is the most important fundamental right and thus avoid, "perpetual jealousy on the subject of ecclesiastical ascendancy", says Justice Story. All religions were encouraged to participate in the republic to ensure the moral fiber and welfare of the people was ensured with good government and the happiness of mankind.
America is a land of Promise:
he Lord will remember his covenants with House of Israel and recover his people, a second time . The Gentiles received a greater portion of the word due in part to the Jews and the scriptures translated and provided by them. The Bible gave the Gentiles great power through written revelation, doctrines, and gospel principles of prosperity. The Gentiles were able to read and study the word of God and understand God's Majestic law. Furthermore, the bible explains the ancient covenant between House of Israel and Jehovah.
We should be grateful for the Bible and the portion of the word of God contained in the Bible. The Bible tells about the travails, wars, and trials of the Jewish people. The bible describes God interaction with the Jews, prophets sent to cry repentance, and deliverance from the enemies of God. The Bible contains symbolic messages: temple, day of atonement, year of jubilee, the feast of trumpets revealing the Hidden Christ.
Do we remember the persecution of the Jews, the holocaust, the ghettos, Diaspora, and Zionism? Do we remember the Jewish revolts against Nero, Titus, Caesar, Alexander the Great, and Nebaccanzer? Do we feel a kindred history of persecution, mobs, and being driven from private owned land?
How did the Jewish people bring about the salvation of the Gentiles? Do we remember the great Jewish thinkers that explained the mysterious of matter, the universe, and energy? America is the most productive nation because it has the most energy. How did great Jewish inventors transform America?
Some of the Gentiles will repent and be baptized becoming members of House of Israel. The Jews that will not repent will be cut off. Jews that will repent will maintain their good standing in House of Israel. Elohim will recognize his covenant with those that individuals, who repent and believe in Jesus Christ, the Holy one of Israel. The Book of Mormon testifies of the divine mission of Jesus Christ and beacons all men to repent and be baptized and enter into a covenant with him. The Book of Mormon will remove the "scales of darkness" from the eyes of the Gentiles and destroy the false doctrines and precepts of man. The Gentiles will come to an understanding of the plain and precious truths taken away from the Bible. The Gentiles will spread the gospel to the world. The Gentiles will restore the knowledge of the their fathers, meaning the Jews to the knowledge of their father. The knowledge of the fathers is the temple ordinances and covenants. The gentiles will become a delightsome people.
"And it shall come to pass that my people, which are the house of Israel, shall be gather home unto the lands of their possession; and my word also shall be gathered in one. And I will show unto them that fight against my word and against my people, who are of the house of Israel, that I am God, and that I covenanted with Abraham that I would remember his seed forever." 2 Ne 29:14. Mose gave Joseph Smith the keys of the Gathering of Israel. Many nations of the earth gathered to America, a place of refuge and prosperity. Many individuals are gathering stakes, wards, and branches to worship the true and living God. Israel has been deemed a Nation for the Jews to gather home.
There will be a great division among the wicked and righteous. The wicked will be destroyed and the righteous spared. What causes the division? False and vain and foolish doctrines puff up the hearts of man causing intellectual apostasy. Vain individuals will use intellectual credentials and argument to declare the mind and will of God rather than receive inspiration from the Holy Ghost. The intellectual frenzy feeds upon materialism and the glory of things to less the dulling blow to the spiritual sense. Material glory enhances the status and elevates the station of such individuals, but they are corrupt in their heart, persecute the meek and poor, and wear fine apparel. The blood of the saint will cry for Justice against the wicked. The Great and Abominable church will tumble to the ground.
"Wo unto them that turn aside the just for a thing of naught and revile against that which is good" 2 Ne 28:16
Wo unto the individual that says, "All is well in Zion; yea, Zion prospereth, all is well" 2 ne 28:21
"Wo be unto him that is at ease in Zion!" 2 Ne 28:24
"Wo be unto him that hearkeneth unto the precepts of men, and denieth the power of God, and the gift of the Holy Ghost". 2 Ne 28:26
Wo unto him that sayeth we have received and we need no more. We need to study the scriptures daily, pray, and receive the inspiration of the Holy Ghost. It is not wise to say, "I have received the message" - "I've heard that before" - "That is the milk of the Gospel". Instead, we should listen to the word, ponder upon it, and let it unlock the more profound and emotional portions of the atonement in our lives. We learn alittle at a time, not all at once. We learn line upon line, precept upon precept until we understand; like the rising of the Sun from the East, we come into full radiance of God's knowledge and wisdom. We ask to drink from living water and receive eternal life, the greatest of all gifts, a gift of mercy paid by Jesus Christ because he loves us. Eternal life is a gift of love and redemption. We are not worthy of the gift, but looks upon our hearts to determine our potential worth. Our reality depends on having a good heart and feeling the great joy daily of the resurrection and exaltation.
Wo unto those that are angry because of the truth of God 2 Ne 28: 28
2 Ether
America is a land of promise. America is God's land and governed by his law. God's law is represented in the Constitution and given strict interpretative without Judicial expansion, large government costs, and overbearing executive authority. "Whatsoever nation shall possess it shall serve God, or they shall be swept off when the fulness of his wrath shall come upon them. And the fulness of his wrath cometh upon them when they are ripened in inquity." 2 Ether 2:9 The Lord encourages the Gentiles of America to repent and avoid his wrath. America is to be a land of liberty, free from bondage and captivity of all other nations and to serve God.
America is given as a land of inheritance designed to prosper and to spread liberty and equality to world. America is to be a light set on a hill shining and providing light and warmeth to the world. America potential for righteousness is the receive protection from the Lord preventing any attack from another country.
What I would like.
I would like to encourage everyone to read "The 5,000 Year Leap" and the 28 principles of constitutional law.
I found the 28 principles very helpful when analyzing governments, such as, Singapore, Hong Kong, India, and China. It seems each government that deviates from the 28 principles has problems, such as, corruption, deficit spending, arms, habeaus corpus breakdowns, rising protectionism, contractual law breaches, and currency over valuations issues.
US foreign policy should be governed by the 28 principles. Countries should be allow free trade with other countries. Tariffs and quota create imbalances and disequilbrium in the system. The free market system should be allowed to solve problems and keep in equilibrium.
Individuals are becoming more empowered, energy is replacing money, and free thought abhors war.
