Book Reviews of The 80/10/10 DietBook Review: It's as Simple as That! Summary: 5 Stars
Like Jennifer, I own just about every book out there on raw vegan diet and lifestyle and have tried every nutritional approach to health imaginable.
Now, finally, I have discovered the simple truth! After hearing about Natural Hygiene and then reading this book, I immediately began this diet and have never looked back. Stubborn health issues disappeared and I have felt the joy of vibrant health since.
This approach has many pluses: fresh fruit is sumptuous food and the pleasure of "indulging" is sweet indeed; my body feels light and fit at all times; my mind stays sharp, never dulled by heavy, fatty or refined non-foods; and most of all, preparing meals is so quick and simple, i am no longer a slave to stove or sink!
Now it is clear to me that this way is right -- the theory JUST MAKES SENSE -- but many people are hooked on modern science to tell them what is true. Here is where this book really shines. Dr. Graham's presentation of the theory and related facts should give even the most skeptical something to chew on and, if they try it out, easily digest!
Seriously, there is plenty of good science here, not to mention Dr. Graham's long standing and impeccable reputation in the health and fitness world. The FAQ's and testimonials add even more clarity to the concepts presented and, finally, the menus and nutritional charts give the reader all the practical information needed to get started easily on this exceptional plan.
My hope is that everyone will one day return to this way of eating (it is, after all, what we humans did for millennia) and witness a return of health to all people and the whole planet.
Book Review: HIGHLY recommended !!!! The one book you should have ! Summary: 5 Stars
If you really are looking for ways to improve your health you would want to get this book ASAP.
I have read quite a few books so far which all claim to be the absolute truth in health matters. I find that all the authors of these books are looking to far and to deep and unnecessarily complicate matters. It just can't be that complicated.
This book belongs to the very few books that will enable you to become and/or stay healthy just by eating those (uncooked) foods that your body was designed to digest with minimum effort and maximum effects.
You don't need doctors, you don't need pills, you don't need supplements. What you do need is this book to take the matter of your health in your own hands.
Doctors put names on deseases so a patient can easily identify himself with it and doctors just happen to have the right pill at hand that goes with that disease. What the patient does not realise is that by swallowing those pills he has sold his soul to the MULTIBILLION dollar pharma industry. Once you get hooked they won't let you go anymore. They are not interested in health, only in desease because thats how they make their money.
Invest a few bucks in this book and you can save all the money you are spending on doctors, pills, supplements....... and the end result wlll be good health, it's that simple. Just look all around you, we're the only species on this planet that are in such bad health. And we're also the only species that thinks that it can eat and drink anything without consequences for our bodies. It's just sooooo logical !!

Book Review: The purest form of raw foodism: A must for athletes! Summary: 5 Stars
I recommend this book if you are ALREADY a raw foodist. If not, there are many other books that might help you transition easier. I would say that this book is the purest form of raw foodism. I have been raw for only 9 months and by trial/error have come to eat this way. I purchased it anyway because I wanted to know the science behind why "gourmet raw" makes me feel so terrible (drains my energy/diarrhea/achy). My review is biased by my experience but here is why I like "The 811":
1. Food prep is minimal which is perfect for my lifestyle
2. I love the simplicity of the the monomeals and feel satisfied
3. It gives tips on dressings (which I always like to rotate)
4. It gave me insight on "gourmet raw" transition foods and why they give me (what I call) "food hang-overs"
5. Performance wise, I have had only good experiences when eating this clean...I can tell you that with any nuts and/or any more than 2 T of seeds I can feel it
6. My grocery bill is a lot less.
7. It's really not about counting...just becoming aware of your fat intake.
8. BEST OF ALL: I feel great!
I recently spoke with another raw foodist who considers this diet his "cleanse". I don't know why he doesn't just eat this way all the time=it's so easy! Just fruit all day with one big salad.
FYI: If you are not an athlete I personally think you don't need to consume as much (calories)as they recommend. Remember in the raw world you process your food much more efficiently so you need less than what the USDA recommends.
Book Review: A true inspiration! Summary: 5 Stars
After reading the 80-10-10 diet, I'm the healthiest and happiest I've ever been. I used to restrict what I ate, especially fruit. I was high-fat raw without knowing it. I was always hungry, and couldn't sleep. After being inspired by 80-10-10, now, I eat SOOO much food! I love 80-10-10!! People always say, "wow, you are going to eat ALL of that?" And I do. And more. I am never hungry, in fact, I'm always full. Usually I'm stuffed, lol! And, I'm losing weight! I lost 30 total pounds and am the most confident I've ever been because of it. I'm able to run faster and further than ever before. I recover much faster after intense workouts. I no longer need glasses/contacts. My skin and allergies have improved dramatically to the point where I no longer need to take medication for either. Healthy eating has so many fantastic and broad reaching consequences. The recipes in this book are so delicious. I never feel guilty about eating anymore! I just eat whenever I'm hungry. Sometimes I even eat just because the fruit looks good lol. It's incredible. It's really liberating. I weigh less now than when I was basically fasting everyday, and I had to sleep all the time because I was so weak. And now, on 80-10-10, I'm never hungry and I always have incredible energy. It's insane. I never believed a diet could do that. 80-10-10 is the opposite of a traditional diet. Traditional diets are about restriction. 80-10-10 is about abundance. And I really love it. I highly recommend this book. It is a true inspiration!
Book Review: If you want to be at your best, READ this book. Summary: 5 Stars
I first read this book in the summer of 2009.
I was experimenting for the first time with raw food diets and started getting really interested in health.
Almost 2 years later, that passion continues to grow the more I learn and experience what health truly means.
The simplicity and all-rounded approach to health, which author Doug Graham writes about here really struck a chord deep within me.
There is a list on page 10 that consists of 32 factors of health that are to be evaluated by the reader and then given a total score.
I completed the list and also printed it out to give to friends & family, many of who thanked me and wanted to know where I got it from.
I think just this list is an invaluable roadmap to help us stay on track and know where we are.
The information presented in the book is very well expressed. The sources are easily laid out with studies and literature to do further research upon.
If you want health, if you want to be at your 100% best, go on the 80/10/10 and leave the rest.
It may take a little time for some but it is well worth it.
I would also recommend checking out more of the authors books, audio programs, youtube videos and website.
I have also personally been in touch with him through emails and he has been very helpful to me.
This book is a must read for every human being who wants to take control of their lives.
