Book Reviews of The 80/10/10 Diet

Book Review: Missed the Mark
Summary: 3 Stars

Im a raw vegan and although this book made a lot of sense to me, I did not feel good eating this way. I kept reading it and looking for what I might be doing wrong...but I was following the plan. It's very rigid and he advocates against eating many delicious raw foods--in fact he basically advocates only eating fruits with about 3-4 lbs of dark leafy greens a day. No raw crackers, desserts, honey, etc. He says if you cant make a meal of it, then dont eat it. I started feeling depressed and low energy. Maybe it was detox...I dont know. But when I went back to my regular raw way of eating I felt ten times better.

Also...if you go to his website, its a little dissapointing because there is no where to ask a question of him, and he charges an absolultely ridiculous amount of money to have a consultation with him. He's pricing for stuff is so unreasonable and it was a bit of a turn off. I mean his paper back book is $30, which in itself is alot for a 350 page paperback.

Book Review: love the book - I can feel it working for me already
Summary: 5 Stars

I love this book on the same level as Pete Egoscue's Health Thru Motion that I use as the baseline for optimal motion (aka exercise). I think Dr. Graham has figured out the other piece of the puzzle regarding the baseline for optimal nutrition (aka diet).

All I can say is be prepared to work out your stomach as this diet is a bit of a challenge. To get enough calories for the day in isolated mono meals turns eating into an exercise form of it's own. I think the hydration effects of this diet are awesome.

I think this diet can travel better too, as the recommended foods can be found in any grocery store (or restaurant even though it will be a special order) - no superfoods, supplements, etc. to lug around. You can find bananas in any air port in a pinch (hopefully organic bananas someday soon)

Try this way of eating out for yourself, you won't be sorry!

Well done!

Book Review: bad diet
Summary: 1 Stars

I have to agree with northernlight the diet is unsafe. there are to many flaws to this diet. I have a family member who followed this diet exactly the way the book states and became very ill. After she went to the doctor and a nutritionist she was given valid studies and research information to prove why. She is slowly recovering but the doctors told her it will be a long road back what makes it even harder is she cannot work because of the ill health. I started to follow the diet myself when this all happened and am glad I stopped before I became ill. I did experience some of the things they say would make you feel good after I first ate but then began experiencing other side affects that my relative did. thankfully I had her to help me come to my senses. Do not try this diet it really could hurt your health.

Book Review: This Diet Causes Disease
Summary: 1 Stars

This is bad science and the worst diet ever. Any reputable raw food health retreat (Hippocrates, Tree of Life, Optimum Health Institute, etc.) will immediately take you off all fruit to heal your body. If you have candida and parasites this diet will make it worse. Brian Clement states that a true diet will provide abundance in health and healing. People that have catastrophic diseases would die by following this diet. We have raw food people dying of cancer because of a high fruit consumption diet. The true raw food diet speaks of wild and the least hybridized of foods is what we should be eating. FRUITS are the worst culprits for hybridization. What man has corrupted, will corrupt in your body. Our bodies are not designed to deal with the higher sugar content that man has created in fruits.

Book Review: Expensive lifestyle, Ironman race fuel would be tough too!
Summary: 4 Stars

I have been researching raw foodism for several months. I watched the Rawkathon and listened to several raw foodists and got even more confused since there were some big differences between each individual's diet. This book really cleared things up for me. I understand it better than ever, and other than adding additional greens or green drinks, I think this really makes the grade. Unfortunately, after going to the grocery store, I realized it was going to cost me over $1000.00 a month to eat this way. I still have three other people in my household to feed. I can't imagine having a $4000.00 grocery bill every month. I would have to live in a tent. Also, I would not have a clue as to what to take on my 4 hour bike rides, or an Ironman. I can't carry 3lbs of bananas with me on a race like that.
