I have tried a number of lesson books for learning violin. I loved the ABCs book 1 & 2, so I ordered book 3. Book 3 lacks compaired to the other 2 books. It really needs a video to go with it. I found book 1 and 2 to be much better than Essentials book 1 and 2, or Violin Primer, or Tune a Day, or Mel Bay's First Lesson. All were better tha the Suzuki book 1 and 2, but Suzuki is ment to be used with an instructor, which I do not have the luxury of.
ABC book 3, does not have nearly the instruction of the first 2 books and does not have a CD nor DVD to go with it. I know I would find more instruction very useful while trying to learn second and third positions. It may still be the best of the books at this level, but would work better with an instructor to help you along.

Beautiful original pieces by Janice Tucker Rhoda including Longing for the Russian Homeland, George Washington, Singing Strad and Fiddler's Holiday are student recital favorites.
Fun Study Pieces and many warm-up exercises along with scales and arpeggios, a note-reading worksheet and practice chart are also included with graphs to show new left-hand finger placement.
This ABCs of Violin Book 3 is the third in a series of five violin books. All five books will help prepare you to play duets, string quartets, and in your local community orchestra's violin section! Add The ABCs of String Orchestra Violin part for additional reinforcement!
In addition, The ABCs of Violin Easy Piano Accompaniment for Book 3 will help facilitate practice and recital performance.
