Book Review: Entertaining as a fluff sci-fi piece.

The book is not great, but it made for fairly light reading and a somewhat entertaining read. There are some fairly amusing tips-of-the-hat to other works of fiction and some very under-developed situations of peril that are laughable at resolution. I would tell friends that like sci-fi that I have read this but I would not recommend it. There is nothing really outstanding about the book.Book Review: Lame ending

I'm with J. Yuziuk "I love the time travel genre and was eager to read this book. As I approached the end of the book, I began to realize that there was no way the loose ends were going to be wrapped up in time. Sure enough, the ending was about as lame as it gets. Great book if you want to kill an afternoon and evening. I like stories about science fiction and time travel and this was a fun read. Haldeman knows his audience and always makes the first few chapters very light and easy to get into. It's a familiar plot, but who cares? Joe Haldeman, winner of many awards including HUGO and NEBULA, tells us his travel tale in THE ACCIDENTAL TIME MACHINE. You can not go wrong with Haldeman or this novel. It is a fun tale about accidently jumping to the future, and farther and farther into the future. I thoroughly enjoyed this simple tale, not technical, just fun. I agree with the reviews that praised the beginning of the book but lamented that the plot quickly deteriorated. I think Haldeman tried too hard to emulate Wells's The Time Machine by envisioning the far future. As with Wells's book, the speculation was rather uninteresting. The book, like its main character, ended up somewhat shallow and immature.
