Book Reviews of The Alphabet of ManlinessBook Review: Hilarious.... Summary: 5 Stars
While on vacation in Florida, I stopped by a B&N to look for something to read while on the flight home. I had already read all the magazines I like and didn't want anything too serious. I was checking out some books in the humor section and stumbled on this one. I am glad I did.
This is straight up hilarious nonsense from the mind of Maddox, the superman behind "The Best Page in the Universe".
I had a day left in the sun, and spent it voraciously gorging myself on this book, finishing it before dinner.
Truly funny, but truly brutal, this book walks you through the alphabet through the eyes of a brutal dude.
If you don't laugh out loud when you read this book, check your pants - you might have soiled yourself trying to keep it in.
Book Review: so funny i s**t my pants Summary: 5 Stars
I've read maddox's website on and off for about 2 1/2 years now, and its always provided the funnies (well now book sales means he doesnt need to write as much.
First time i opened the book at breakfest I read and read til i realised i was 3 hours late for work. At one point I laughed so hard after a night out and eating spicey food that I ran to the toilet giggling and trying not to explode along the way.
This book is probably one of the funniest books ive ever read. If not the funniest. I've bought copies for my old man and my two best friends. I love how it offends women so much when it doesnt even refer to them personally, it makes the whole experiance rewarding everytime.
my friends dont have girlfriends now.
Book Review: Funny, funny stuff... Summary: 4 Stars
Maddox' Alphabet of Manliness largely lacks the depth of his critical analysis of stupidity that is such a strong theme across his website articles (hehe sounds like testicles), but is still a great read - perfect for picking up when you're on the toilet, or trying to avoid working at the office.
It's jam packed full of funny, but make sure you understand his type of humour before buying, as you may otherwise find it confronting. If you don't understand sarcasm, and can't see how much Maddox is attacking the patriarchal side of society, then this is not your style of book.
I bought this book to support Maddox because I love the website so much, and this book is a great (but simple) tribute to the site.
Book Review: It truly rocks your balls off! Summary: 5 Stars
After reading The Alphabet of Manliness, I can now conclude that I am thrice the man that I have ever been. Until reading this book, I was wondering why I didn't grow any hair on my back or knuckles. Shortly after completion, I am now a hairy lumberjack who wields an axe, but that's just my day job. At night, I make sure my woman is kept in place, and search for burried treasure as a pirate.
This book is a true testament to what a man should be and is, and I have delicately placed it on the book shelf right next to The Bible, and I'm happy to say that it fits in there as though it was meant to be by divine right.
Thank you Maddox... Thank you for making me thrice the man that I already was!
Book Review: Review - The Alphabet of Manliness Summary: 4 Stars
Well, what can you really say? Anyone who knows Maddox's work will certainly enjoy this book, and it's definately packs a punch to the ovaries for people who pick it up just for a browse. Crude, direct, and well written, Maddox delivers his particular brand of humour with his usual panache. Although it seems to be slightly more tame than his website, I just put that down to publisher constraints. One thing I did miss was the old fashioned "MS Paint" artwork that Maddox uses in his posts. Although the professional artwork was done well, I think it took a little something away, and in conjunction with my previous point, it loses a star in this review.
I'll never look at my alphabet soup the same way again.
