Book Reviews of The Anatomy Coloring BookBook Review: Could it Get Any Better! Summary: 4 Stars
I am a doctor now, but i used this book when i was a medical student and i thought it was great.
Some people may say it does not have a lot of detail. But i thought the annotations were pretty detailed. And i had the 2nd Edition!
There is no way you can know all that is in this book and NOT get a good grade on your anatomy final!
The only down side, its a bit time consuming, all that colouring takes time. SO use it WITH your course work. Dont wait till you are close to exams, because you wont have time.
To tell you how much i loved this book, i bought a copy of the 3rd edition for a friend of mine who is starting med school in september!
BUY IT!!!!
Book Review: Great for musculature, bones, and vessels, but lacks innervation Summary: 4 Stars
I'm currently taking Human Anatomy at Johns Hopkins Medical School, and this coloring book is a great study aid for processing the large amounts of information in an anatomy course. The book is pretty thorough on most subjects, but it is severely lacking in muscle and viscera innervation. The section on somatic and autonomic systems is a wonderful summary (and made sense out of my professor's lecture!) and has the major plexuses, but the book kinda fails when it comes to regional innervation - a major drawback when studying tightly packed areas like the pelvis and abdomen. Would have gotten a 5 star, but innervation is important to know and very tricky... maybe the authors can add some in a 4th edition?
Book Review: Very effective method for learning anatomy Summary: 5 Stars
I took A&P over thirty years ago in nursing school. I am taking it again as part of a yoga training program. This is a required text and I would recommend it for anyone learning A&P. The actions of colouring the anatomy parts and their related names is extremely effective for what you need to learn when studying anatomy. The instructions for the colours are very deliberate so that when you are doing the colouring it also reveals the relationships of one anatomical part to another. The accompanying text that describes the particular anatomical part and it's function is concise and well written.
It is also a fun way to learn your anatomy which increases your comprehension.
Book Review: Great massage review Summary: 5 Stars
LOVE this anatomy coloring book! I'm studying for my national massage boards and love this because it shows muscle attachment points. Great for a visual learner. I'd definitely recommend getting at least 20 markers, if not more, to distinguish differences easier - I got the Crayola thick/thin smaller markers and they worked very well. Lighter colors filling a page are easier to look at than a bunch of dark colors, FYI. A feature I love is that there is only printing on one side, so you don't have to worry about bleed-through. I just wish I had made copies of the muscle pages before I colored them, so I could do them more than once. LOVE IT!!!
Book Review: A very useful classic Summary: 5 Stars
I used this book when I was a pre-med student and I recently purchased a copy for my son to help him learn the bones in the human body for a junior high anatomy exam.
The Anatomy Coloring Book is an outstanding instructional tool because it combines two types of learning. Students read about the function of the parts of the body while also learning the names of that part and everything around it. The act of coloring the items reinforces the learning.
This book is as much an instructional resource as it is art, and it makes learning anatomy much, much easier for people who learn best by studying things visually.
