Book Reviews of The Backyard Astronomer's GuideBook Review: Beware - looks like a textbook Summary: 4 Stars
I read all the reviews on this book and purchased it, but it was not what I had in mind. I was looking for a book on stargazing with the naked eye and picking out formations and general knowledge and lore about stars. This book was much more intense and thorough (equipment and photgraphing). Not a bad thing, just an fyi. If you are looking for a quick and easy guide, this may be more than you bargained for.
Book Review: Excellent for Sorting thru What Can Be Bewildering at 1st Summary: 5 Stars
If you are new to astronomy, THIS is THE book. I have read it and re-read on a regular basis as questions arise. It is comprehensive and covers every main topic of concern and interest to amatuer astronomers from what telescope would be right for you to how to use it and what to look at. An indispensable reference.

Book Review: Second book you should buy Summary: 5 Stars
This is the second book that anyone interested in learning Astronomy should buy, right after buying and reading NightWatch. Everything is well written, easy to understand and nicely arranged. I can't say enough about how valuable this book is for everyone from beginners to experienced users.
Book Review: Excellent - broad coverage. A must have. Summary: 5 Stars
I use this book and "Turn Left at Orion" the most. This book is priced well for a hardback and covers a LOT of ground. It's coverage of filters, eyepieces, photographic techniques make it well worth the price. It's also a lot of fun !!
